It was a busy day at the Krusty Krab and SpongeBob loved every minute of it. He mopped the floor and the celling, washed the dishes, and cooked some Krabby Patties. Just then, Mr. Krabs stepped of of his office to tell SpongeBob that he is fired. Mr. Krabs explains the reason why is firing SpongeBob is so he can save a whole nickel. SpongeBob was so shocked, he couldn't move. Squidward loaded him onto a cart and rolled him out the door. That night, Patrick heard moaning coming from SpongeBob's house. He stopped by to see what was wrong. SpongeBob explains to Patrick that he got f-f-fired from the Krusty Krab. Patrick convinced SpongeBob by telling him that he will teach him about the wonder of FUN-employment tomorrow.
SpongeBob and Patrick started their day by standing in Squidward's garden an waving a him. Squidward is angered by this and starts throws vegetables at them which Patrick calls a free breakfast. Later that day, SpongeBob and Patrick went Sandy's for a free lunch. Little did they know, the food was really a science experiment with weird side effects. Patrick found the food to be delicious and his forehead grew little face that wanted more food. Sandy however warned SpongeBob not to eat the food. She convinced SpongeBob to get a new job. SpongeBob knew Sandy was right and went walking to find a new job. SpongeBob thought he could get another job as a fry cook, so he went to the Weenie Hut. The manger hired him right away, but SpongeBob did't like the kitchen. They didn't use a grill to cook the hot dogs. They used a strange rolling machine. SpongeBob did't think it was right so grabbed his spatula, used it to slice a few cooked hot dogs with buns, and made Weenie Patties. The manger however did not like this and he fired SpongeBob. Everywhere SpongeBob went, it was the same story. At the Pizza Piehole, they didn't like his Pizza Patty. At Taco Sombrero, his Burrito Patty squirted beans everywhere. And he was kicked out of the Wet noodles because is noodle patty were a mess.
When SpongeBob got home that day, he was really depressed. At least SpongeBob's pet snail Gary still liked his cooking. Just then, there was a knock at the front door. SpongeBob opened the door to find two big men dressed as hot dogs! They shoved him into a bun and ran away with him. SpongeBob was taken to the Weenie Hut and chained to the hot dog cooker. The manger apologized for firing him and says that his customers love his Weenie Patties. The manger ordered SpongeBob to get to work and marched out of the kitchen. Suddenly, the manger of Pizza Piehole snuck into kitchen and freed SpongeBob from the chain by using sauce. But then he tied SSpongeBob's hands with a garlic breadstick. When SpongeBob got outside, he was grabbed by the manger of Wet Noodle. They didn't get far before Señor Taco from Taco Sombrero snatched SpongeBob. All the mangers wanted SpongeBob to work for them. They all clutched and pulled at him. Suddenly, a giant Krabby Patty came to the rescue. The big Krabby Patty carried SpongeBob across town to the Krusty Krab! Inside, SpongeBob discovered that Squidward was wearing the costume. Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob that he regrets firing him and he is rehired. SpongeBob looked around. The tables were messy, smoke poured from the kitchen, and sauce dripped from the walls. While SpongeBob was busying working, he noted something strange about the bathroom door. Mr. Krabs explains that it's a pay toilet to make up the nickel he lost. SpongeBob had never been happier to be at work.
- On one page, it says that the Pizza Piehole manger used tomato sauce to free the chain from SpongeBob, however, he actually was using pizza sauce. Although, it may be because pizza sauce is made from tomato paste.
