"Yeti Krabs" is a SpongeBob SquarePants episode from season 9. In this episode, Mr. Krabs tells a story of a Yeti Krab that eats lazy employees, which makes SpongeBob work in overdrive.

Characters[]

Synopsis[]

At the Krusty Krab, Mr. Krabs tries to get Squidward to work around the restaurant. However, every task he tries to make him do is either already done by SpongeBob or is quickly done by him. Mr. Krabs tells the two the story of the Yeti Krab, and how he eats workers who are lazy. Afterwards, he makes Squidward do the laundry and leaves the restaurant.

SpongeBob is frightened by the story and works extra hard, while Squidward continues being lazy. At the same time, in a sheer coincidence, the Yeti Krab comes out from a mountain and goes to the Krusty Krab, as he is hungry. When SpongeBob sees him, he panics and works even harder than before, while Squidward thinks he is Mr. Krabs in disguise.

He gets annoyed by SpongeBob doing so much work and goes outside to dress up as a Yeti Krab so he can fight him. When Mr. Krabs arrives, Squidward freaks out, as he realizes the creature is real. The angry Yeti Krab then puts all three on the grill to cook them.

SpongeBob hears the Yeti Krab's stomach growling and realizes that the yeti wants to eat them because he is hungry. He cooks up some Emergency Krabby Patties, and after eating them, Mr. Krabs sees the Yeti Krab is pleased before he pays the happy Mr. Krabs for the meal. He then leaves with satisfaction, as Mr. Krabs tells his employees to resume duty. Afterward, he gives Squidward orders, only for him to refuse and SpongeBob volunteers to do them, as the episode ends.

Trivia[]

General[]

  • This episode originally had the packaging number of 188a, but it was switched around with its sister episode.[1]
Nick Schedule - Where's YETI KRABS!!
  • This episode was originally scheduled to premiere on November 28, 2014 in the United States at 6:30 PM. However, the listing was changed and replaced with a rerun of "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!"[7][8]
    • The air date was instead moved to March 29, 2015.
    • Due to this, the airing between this episode and "Kenny the Cat" created a hiatus that spanned exactly one year of no new episodes premiering in the United States.
      • This makes it the largest gap between episode premieres in the series.
  • This is the first episode for a few things:
  • This was Casey Alexander's last episode. After he worked on this episode, he left the show to work on the Cartoon Network series Uncle Grandpa.[9]
  • This was also Zeus Cervas' last episode, as he left to work on the Disney Channel animated series Star vs. the Forces of Evil, until he later returned with "Shopping List" in season 11.
    • That episode would mark the second appearance of Yeti Krab in the series.
  • This episode's premiere preceded the official series premiere of the Nickelodeon animated series Harvey Beaks.
  • The production track "Mambo Fantastico" played again after not being played since "Krab Borg."
    • This is also the second episode in the series where SpongeBob is used to clean the air duct. The first was "Little Yellow Book" in a flashback.
  • A giant ball of gum that looks like Gummy from the episode "The Gift of Gum" appears as a collection of all the gum from under the Krusty Krab tables. SpongeBob even asks Mr. Krabs if he can take the giant ball of gum to Patrick after work.
  • The "Just Then..." and "By Sheer Coincidence" time cards from this episode are the only time in which more than one time card is represented in one phrase in the series.
  • Squidward's yeti disguise is composed of:
    • A garbage can
    • Boxes
    • Old cushion cotton
    • A mop head
  • There is an actual animal called Kiwaidae, which is commonly referred to as the "yeti crab."
  • The population of Bikini Bottom is 517 in this episode.
  • The Yeti Krab is shown to have lungs, but crustaceans do not have lungs.
  • This is the second episode to feature welding materials in the Krusty Krab. The first was "The Krusty Plate."
  • This is the third episode to premiere in the United States a year or longer after its sister episode premiered. The first was "Gary Takes a Bath," and the second was "Goo Goo Gas."
  • This episode marks one of the few instances in which Mr. Krabs calls SpongeBob by his last name.
    • This is also the first episode where Mr. Krabs calls Squidward by his last name.

Fixed Hebrew title card.

  • In the Hebrew version of this episode, there was originally no words on the time cards and title card. However, the title card was later fixed.
  • When SpongeBob is dirty in the air duct, he looks similar to how he does with Mr. Krabs in "Evil Spatula" after the first explosion.
    • Both episodes are from season 9 and mostly focuses on the Krusty Krew and the Krusty Krab.
  • This episode was paired up with "Night Light" during the Massive Monster Mayhem Marathon.[10]
  • This episode was the last for Czech Mr. Krabs' dubber Bedřich Šetena, who died on April 3, 2015. The episode aired on Nickelodeon CEE on January 1, 2016, almost 9 months after his death, making it a posthumous release.
