Role in comics[]

SpongeBob Comics 32[]

He prepared a feast for Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy and talked about the knowledge of the Urbo Ancients, and tells the duo that he is supposed to protect the libro in which all the knowledge is held. However, when Mermaid Man realizes he's eating bugs, he ends up throwing the bug on the libro, burning it. This makes Viro mad, but while Viro is mad, the comic SpongeBob was reading was missing its final page, as someone tore it.

Later, Viro Reganto appears again, old and wrinkly, at Mermaid Man's door. He tells SpongeBob the real story of when he and Mermaid Man met, where the real story begins, and is continued in the next comic.

SpongeBob Comics 33[]

When Viro is about to tell the real story, Mermaid Man tells him to save his breath because no one wants to hear it. Despite that, SpongeBob wants to listen to his story since if he doesn't get to see the ending, he can't finish braiding his friendship belt where he keeps the stats of all of Mermaid Man's battles. Viro then starts telling his story after fixing a flab on his arm. In the modified story, Viro defeats Mermaid Man and Mermaid Man confesses that Viro is much better and cooler than he is.

This, however, angers Mermaid Man as he thinks he would never say that, but SpongeBob quiets him down as he wants to listen to the story. Viro is able to defeat Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy easily, and then embarrasses them when they are trying to swim up. Mermaid Man tries to use a giant squid to defeat Viro, but Viro ends up using it to embarrass Mermaid Man even further.

After Viro is finished, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy complain about how Barnacle Boy would only want to be the former's sidekick, proving that Viro is lying. The two get into an argument, but then SpongeBob tells them that he thinks the truth is in the middle and that since he's in the middle, he will tell what really happened.

SpongeBob Comics 34[]

In SpongeBob's version of the tale between Viro and Mermaid Man, the two are fighting, until they ended up being attacked by every villain in the world, stopping them from defeating each other. Barnacle Boy gets captured by the Dirty Bubble, which makes Mermaid Man and Viro forgive each other, and team up to defeat the villains. Afterwards, they realize their strengths are become friends and defeat the last of the villains.

Later, they decided to tackle all of the world's problems, and allow everything to be perfect. However, when trying to help a lady, they hit each other and forget the recent events, and end up fighting each other again.

SpongeBob Comics 35[]

Viro and Mermaid Man almost fight, but Barnacle Boy tells them that they should do their competition more "age appropriately," meaning they have to do a bunch of activities and try to win them. However, none of them win, and both fall asleep.

SpongeBob Comics 36[]

When they are in a wave, SpongeBob hits Mermaid Man and Viro in an attempt to make them forget they are enemies. Despite it not working, they become friends anyways and end up becoming their strong selves after hand shaking. They use their friendship force to try and defeat the big wave, which they end up doing, allowing SpongeBob to complete his friendship belt with complete accuracy.

Later, Viro and Mermaid Man are called down by a lady since she needs help fixing her leaky faucet, though they don't do it since it's not an emergency. Despite that, SpongeBob tells the two heroes that just because there is no super villain doesn't mean they can't help her. This prompts them to help the lady with her faucet and with many other chores in other places.

Later on, after finishing fixing Shady Shoals, they get into an argument of who is in charge, and lose their power of friendship through them arguing like they did in the past.

Trivia[]
