This year's Kid's Choice Awards was arguably one of the toughest for the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise, with other big-name, popular cartoons threatening to take the throne off of the little yellow sponge.

    Well, despite this...

The show won it for a record 8th consecutive time (its 13th award overall) fending off the likes of Gravity Falls, Phineas and Pherb and The Amazing World of Gumball! This will come of little surprise to anyone with the success of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water last year, as well as the brand new episodes being drip-fed to fans.

    SpongeBob in 2015

    December 31, 2015 by Spongebob456

2015 has been an awesome year for the SpongeBob series with The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water hitting theaters way back on February 6, and the resumption of Season 9 in the summer!

The movie in particular was a great success and it certainly sparked much discussion on this wiki and indeed the whole SpongeBob fandom! It was really refreshing to see the little square sensation hit the big screens again after 11 years. The richer animation and live-action sequences really injected life into the characters and it was awesome to see! The movie grossed more than the first movie and beat other high budget films such as American Sniper.

I think those results suggest SpongeBob is still thriving among the community! Many talk about the series be…
