Hello, users. I am currently in a fit of rage over some DVDs across the world. Sad, isn't it?

Yes. It is very sad. But you would be too if you found out how Thailand did the season DVDs.

Okay. So, ya know how Seasons 4, 5, and 6 were originally released on DVDs as Volumes 1 and 2? Well, Thailand did those similarly. For all 6 seasons. (Dunno about seasons 7 or 8. But who cares right now? You can find that out yourself, I'm ranting at the moment!)

Ahem. Anyway, they split the episodes up in seperate volumes. Guess how many volumes there were, counting all 6 seasons. 12? 18?

No. 32.

Yup. You have to buy 32 seperate DVDs to get only 6 seasons. And it gets even more money-grubbingly nonsensical from here, folks.

Before I explain that, here's a gallery of the dumbest looking covers for you.

Okay, now that that's outta the way, let me explain the trash that is these DVDs.

You have to, as I said before, buy 32 seperate DVDs. I don't mean bundled together, like how at Walmart they sometimes bundle two seasons, you have to buy each DVD seperately.

Hello I like money

<----

This is a huge drainage of money compared to buying just the regular seasons. If you buy each of the DVDs of the complete seasons, you're paying $57. Which seems like a lot. Until, however, we do some math.

Most of the DVDs have 8 episodes. The Spongebob DVDs that have around 8 episodes cost about... let's say $7.50 per DVD. There are 32 DVDs. This means you're paying $240 in Thailand's currency for 6 seasons. 4 times more than you have to for the USA versions of these DVDs. And that's what I'd like to call... Mr. Krabs-ing.

And the worst part about it is the length of some of these DVDs. I said most of the DVDs have 8 episodes, and that's true. Some DVDs have less episodes. This is understandable for some. For example, Season 2 Volume 2 has only 7 episodes because Christmas Who is the length of two episodes. In fact, this isn't a real problem until seasons 5 and 6.

So, there are two TV movies that are around an hour long, Atlantis Squarepantis and Truth or Square. This is where the problem kicks in. So, Season 5 Volume 3 gives you 8 episodes, one being Atlantis Squarepantis, making that DVD short, with the episode length being that of 7 episodes, due to some of the episodes on that DVD being a lot shorter (The Donut of Shame and The Krusty Plate). Anyway, this is not a problem for a while. Until Season 6 Volume 6 and Season 6 Volume 7.

So, you've stomached 30 whole DVDs of Spongebob Squarepants, and now it's time for the last few episodes of the season and then you're done. But, oh no. Truth or Square is on the 31st DVD. The run time is enough for 4 episode segments, so they put 4 other segments (aka 2 other episodes) along with it. Makes sense. Actually, scratch that. That makes no sense, considering there are 2 MORE episodes they still need to put on DVD. This includes two segments and a (really boring) double length episode. So what did the Thai DVD makers do with them? Did they...

A) Not put them on DVD at all.

B) Put each of the remaining episodes on the previous volumes

C) Put them on their own DVD,

If you answered B, you are smarter than DVD makers in Thailand. A would also be a smart choice. But they didn't do either of those things and just put them on their own DVD.

So, let me explain: You are paying the overpriced amount of the Thai equivalent of $7 for a DVD that has only 3 episodes on it, all of which are terrible season 6 episodes. What a terrible thing!

You see why that got me so angry?! It's just a money-grubbing scheme by some Thai people to get little kids to beg their mommies to waste $240 on 32 DVDs that were terribly organized, but so deviously cash-grabbing that it's stupid. So, in other words, the best way to buy Spongebob season DVDs is NOT to buy many cheap things, but to buy few expensive things. Take it from me when buying Spongebob season DVDs across the globe. Although not many people are actually gonna do that...

Thanks for reading my rant on Thai season DVDs. Be sure to stay tuned for more rants, lists, and other written things about Spongebob on my blog posts, which I'll link on my profile. See ya, users!
