2018 (MMXVIII) was a common year that started on Monday of the Gregorian calendar.

This year saw the beginning of the twelfth season and the conclusion of the eleventh season. 2018 was the year with the fifth greatest number of episodes premiering, with 34 new episodes being released in the United States. The years where more episodes were released are 2001, 2007, 2011, and 2017. This was the last year with Stephen Hillenburg being involved in episodes' production, before he died on November 26 due to complications caused by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

2018 was also the year, Cyma Zarghami stepped down as president for Nickelodeon. Leading Brian Robbins to take the role.

"FarmerBob" is the only season 12 episode to premiere in this year and during Stephen Hillenburg's lifetime.
