That is not what I meant. I tell them what they did wrong. He changed the quote. A teacher can do one of two things: Correct an assignment or grade an assignment. There is a difference.

If it has something like (Bad word 11) then they can change it.
Plus, it's better to change, then it looks better, and no changes have to be added on the thread, and then we don't look silly.
It is not okay to do that. It would be like changing a famous line in Gettysburg Address. Instead of saying "Four score and seven years ago..." someone says "87 years ago..." It changes one's view of that person.

All I did was change "ahve" to "have," and now you're talking about the Gettysburg Address.

What I am saying is that even a typo is important.
It is different with people talking. You shouldn't change "I don't wanna be your friend anymore" to "I don't want to be your friend anymore" in a transcript, so you shouldn't in a discussion or a thread.

So, basically what I am trying to say is that Discussions, threads, transcripts, and other dialogue are off-limits when it comes to correcting grammar and spelling.

Then why do YOU eliminate contractions from articles?Â

First, articles are not off-limits. Second, they are not formal language. This wiki should have the most formal language possible.
