Items

There are many items to collect in the game.

Goofy Goober Tokens

These are the main items in the game. Collecting them is crucial to learning new techniques to progress through the levels. You earn a Goofy Goober Token by completing missions in the level. There are 62 Goofy Goober Tokens total in the game.

Manliness Points

Collecting Manliness Points will help you upgrade your health and techniques. Each Manliness Point is different and will fill the upgrade meter differently. Red=1. Yellow=2. Green=5. Blue=10. Pink=50. You earn Manliness Points by finding them on the ground, breaking open crates and defeating enemies.

HINT: If you defeat a huge number of enemies at once, you will earn smash bonuses therefore earn bonus Manliness Points.

Treasure Chests

Treasure Chests are hidden throughout the levels. Collecting them unlocks special bonuses in the game. Some are found in hidden spots in the level while others need to appear by completing a task. There are 42 Treasure Chests total in the game.

Crates

  • Plan Z Supply Crate - These crates are easy to break open. Similar to the Wooden Tiki in BFBB.
  • Balloon Box - A box floating in the air on a balloon. Only air-based techniques can break them open. They can also be used as platforms to cross gaps. Similar to the Floating Tiki in BFBB.
  • Plan Z Computer - These computers can detect you and disappear when you come to close, only reappearing when you back out. They can be destroyed be an explosion or distant techniques. Similar to the Shhh Tiki in BFBB.
  • Thunder Barrel - These barrels are explosive. A single touch is enough to light their fuses and explode. The blast radius destroys any nearby crates and enemies and detonates other Thunder Barrels. Similar to the Thunder Tiki in BFBB.
  • Steel Safe - Very hard safes that are tough to open. Only an explosion or upgraded technique can destroy them. Steel Safes can also be used to get to higher inclines by stacking them. Similar to the Stone Tiki in BFBB.

Enemies

As you play the game you will encounter different enemies which have different ways of being defeated.

  • Jellyfish: Jellyfish roam many areas in the sea and can be very aggressive if anything gets in their environment they attack you by stinging you with their stingers and are very quick which gives you the strategy to quickly attack them before they zap you.
    • Critter: It is the same as the Jellyfish but has a bucket helmet.
  • Fogger: The fogger is a chubby enemy that has incredibly stinky breath and which is their attack. They breathe a cloud of stink that can make you faint and must fade away before it is safe.
  • Slammer: The slammer is slim and armed with a hammer like tool and can perform an overhead slam attack which can knock you out and give you a headache upon impact they create a small shock wave.
  • Flinger: The flinger is an enemy that floats above the ground in a safety float and is immune to spin attacks who attacks by spitting a glob of goo that once hit not only hurts you and makes the ground slippery and if you are ever to dodge it it will leave a puddle that lasts for an amount of time. Of all the Bucket-Heads Flinger seems to be the most oblivious and possibly stupid due to how it behaves when he attacks. Their goo can also be deflected with an upgraded spin attack.
  • Spinner: An enemy with a guard worm that spins around to attack you. Nothing can harm them while they are spinning.
  • Turret: An enemy that is in a trash can and shoot little rockets. Each of the rockets can be deflected with an upgraded spin attack.
  • Mini-merv: A smaller version of Merv except he dosn't have the missle launcher.
  • Merv: An enemy that floats above you and if you get too close it fires a lazer, but if you're far it will shoot a rocket that releases 5 little rockets that follow. Both Mervs are armed with a gravatational beam that repels the spongebowl attack. The rockets can be deflected with an upgraded spin attack.
  • Popper: An enemy which fires 3 blobs or 8 at a time. If you get too close or if it is hit by projectiles, but not killed, it will burrow to a different area. This enemy has a weak point.

If you make it laugh, then run up to it, if you are fast enough, you can karate spin/star spin it.

  • Enemy Spawner: While these enemies do not attack or move, they will keep generating enemies into your path, so it is best to destroy them. Careful though, they go out with a bang!

Bosses

  • Frog Fish (I'll Let You Pet Mr. Whiskers)-The first boss of the game before you head to the Trenches. After SpongeBob gets caught by the frog fish, Patrick goes out to rescue him. The Frog fish will charge at Patrick, so he must dodge it and uses his cartwheel to knock him off the edge. After doing it several times, it sends out its tongue which will at first slam and then do a spin attack at the player. During the process, the frog fish spews acid bombs at you. Repeat these strategies until the boss dies.
  • Dennis (Name's Dennis)- The hitman hired by Plankton to stop SpongeBob and Patrick. Throughout the fight, Dennis will use SpongeBob as a hockey stick and whack old toilets (which will release a toxic gas ring if it hits the ground) at Patrick. The player must either deflect the toilets with his upgraded star spin or throw melons at him. As Dennis' health decreases, he will summon spinners into the arena. Once the boss' health meter is empty, he gets squished by a boot but this isn't the last you'll see him!
  • Deformed Dennis (Dennis Strikes Back!)- After SpongeBob and Patrick get King Neptune's crown and get a lift from David Hasselhoff, the boot that squashed Dennis returns along with Dennis! This time, he will throw several daggers at SpongeBob. Worse if players try to get close to him, he will just leap to a different spot. To beat him, just use your bowling attack or deflect the daggers using an upgraded spin attack. As Dennis' health decrease, he calls in slammers into the arena. Once the boss' health meter is empty, Dennis gets hit by an oncoming boat.
  • Buckethead King Neptune (Turn the Tables on Plankton)- This is King Neptune, but he's under Plankton's mind control. He cannot be harmed in any way, as he will swat you if you get too close to him, or block your sonic ring guitar attack with his trident. For the first round, Neptune will shoot a jet of brown goo at you. During the part when he reloads his trident, hit all the mirrors with your karate spin. When Neptune is ready to shoot a laser at you, quickly run behind the frozen Mr. Krabs. Once the boss is stunned, use your sonic guitar attack and hit him. After Neptune loses a third of his health, he will fire an electric wave at the floor. Repeat the same strategy as the first round. After Neptune loses another third of his health, he will break the floor into ledges and call two flingers for backup. Use the same strategy as before as well as jumping the ledges and avoid the flinger's attacks. Once the boss health meter is empty, the bucket that controlled Neptune breaks and you win the game!

Trivia

  • The game's gameplay is extremely simular to its predecessor, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom.
  • Mindy can be heard saying bad word #11.
  • In the PC version the familiar looking guy (the same one from SpongeBob SquarePants; Employee of the Month) can be seen.

Easter Eggs

There are 3 known "Easter Eggs" in the game, both in the "Shell City Dead Ahead" level on the PS2/GC/ version:

  • An old license plate reads "HVY IRN", an acronym of "Heavy Iron", the game's developer.
  • In the "Welcome to Planktopolis...minions" level, when you get through the Monument-al Destruction task and you are facing the lava pit, drop down to the right lower ledge and keep going right. when you pass the corner, it will say "Heavy Irons best times" and tell you all the greatest Heavy Iron racing times.
