"The Krabby Kronicle" is a SpongeBob SquarePants episode from season 6. In this episode, Mr. Krabs establishes a newspaper.

Synopsis

At the Krusty Krab, Mr. Krabs finds out that there has been no new customers, so he goes out and finds out people are buying newspapers behind the Krusty Krab. When a woman passes by to buy it, Mr. Krabs, pretending to be nice opens the machine for her only for him to get one for free (he opened it for her, then took one for himself) to find out they charge 25 cents per word. Mr. Krabs, amazed about the price, decides to open his own newspaper business. The next day, SpongeBob finds out that Mr. Krabs will put him on two jobs: there normal fry cook duties, and being lead reporter for The Krabby Kronicle. After finding no interesting stories, (despite there is a bank robbery, two fish destroying someone's boat, and a monster) he walks off only to find Patrick waiting for the bus, finding it out to be juicy, takes a picture of it, but Patrick states that he was only watching the pole so that the next time it moves, he will be there to see it. At The Krusty Krab, Mr. Krabs tells the lad that his stories aren't juicy enough, and turns Patrick watching a pole into Patrick marrying a pole. Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob that these are not lies, but to give the people something that they can laugh about. After this, SpongeBob writes lies about people (which leads to Mrs. Puff losing her business, Larry kicked out of the gym, The Chum Bucket being closed down, and Sandy being confiscated of all her trophies). SpongeBob tries to tell Mr. Krabs to stop hurting their friends lives, but Mr. Krabs rejects, telling him that he will take away SpongeBob's spatula if he doesn't write more. That night, Mr. Krabs tells him to give him a shocker, so SpongeBob stays awake all night to write a story of Mr. Krabs torturing him and ruining other people's lives. An angry mob comes and takes back all their money. Mr. Krabs, finding out with the printer he can print money, tells the gang to get him some scissors. The episode ends with Patrick ordering a Krabby Patty for him and his wife (the pole).

• A book called "Stop the Presses" which was based on this episode was out before this episode aired.
• When Mr. Krabs held open the newspaper container, there is a coin slot on it, instead of being on one side it's on both sides.
• The alternate title of the episode is "Krabs vs. Bikini Bottom".
• This episode was probably inspired by the 1996-2000 TV series, Early Edition (starring Kyle Chandler, Shanesia David Williams, Billy Worley, Fisher Stevens, Kristy Swanson, and Myles Jeffrey).
• When SpongeBob takes a picture of Patrick when he looks like he's waiting for the bus, the sign says "Bus Stop", but when Patrick arrives at the end of the episode when Mr. Krabs is printing his money, the sign says "Conch Road".
• This is the second time an episode mentions daytime television, with the first being in Shanghaied. This term was mentioned a third time while having a real appearance in The Clash of Triton.
• At first the picture of Patrick shows him not holding the pole. But when Mr. Krabs draws a tuxedo on Patrick he is holding it. It is possible that he drew it so Patrick looks like he's holding the pole.
• Mr. Krabs does a lot of illegal things in this episode, such as printing money, or stealing paper out of the machine without paying. (Mr. Krabs breaks the law most of the time in this show.) Also in the episode Patty Caper, he stole the secret ingredient without paying $1.99 and used SpongeBob to blame everyone else with his little caper set up so he could take the fall for his tricks.
• When the two fish run out of Sandy's treedome, there are bubbles trailing behind them.
• When Larry read the newspaper, he added an additional "gets".
• In this episode, there is a board over The Krusty Krab sign that says "Over 8 Bajilion Served". This may be a reference to "Over 8 Billion Served" from the Invader Zim episode "Career Day" on the McMeaty's sign.
• This is one of the eleven episodes in which it has an animated title card. The others are SB-129, Pre-Hibernation Week, One Krabs Trash, Idiot Box, SpongeBob Meets the Strangler, Skill Crane, Ghost Host, Karate Island, All That Glitters, and The Donut of Shame. This title card is of a The Krabby Kronicle newspaper with an image of a Krabby Patty and SpongeBob's picture from the pilot episode.
• The fourth time Sandy is called dumb. The other three were in Squirrel Jokes, Patrick SmartPants and Texas.
• When the fishes want their money back, they go into the kitchen even though all of it is in Mr. Krab's office. It is possible they walked to the office through the kitchen. But, that doesn't explain why they walked back out from the kitchen.
• Karen does not speak in this episode even though she is shown.
• Mr. Krabs could be arrested for counterfeiting money. This might have been an unseen lawsuit happening after the episode.
  • In real life, It's illegal to print your own money if you're not doing it for the goverment..
• When the blue fish took a paper out of the machine, no paper seems to be removed from the stack. This didn't happen when Krabs drags one out.
• When a lie about The Chum Bucket making food out of other fish, the health inspector from The Nasty Patty appears.
• In Welcome to the Chum Bucket there is a sandwich that is alive, so this is possibly somewhat true. Also another factor is that chum is a species of salmon.
• The lie where Plankton is accused for selling food made out of fish to other fish is a parody of the 1973 film, Soylent Green.
• When SpongeBob takes a picture of Patrick staring at the pole, his face looks bored. However in the newspaper, he is seen in the picture smiling. It is possible that Mr. Krabs drew the smile on.
• In this episode, the pole is bigger than Patrick, but at the end, the pole is of the same size of Patrick.
• When SpongeBob took the photograph of Mrs. Puff next to the police officer they weren't being in a chase, but for some reason, when the newspaper article is seen the policeman is chasing after Mrs. Puff at high speed. This must be that SpongeBob possibly drew in the extra content into the picture.

• When the picture with Mr. Krabs shouting at SpongeBob is shown, Mr. Krabs' shirt is shown with no collar.
• The two fish were influenced by what SpongeBob wrote in the paper and thought that Sandy was a dumb mammal. However, in Overbooked, many fish were in Sandy's Treedome and knew her already. Also, in Texas, many of the fish knew Sandy and had a party for her. It is possible that this episode came before those two.
• This is the third time SpongeBob is seen with a card to show his identity on his outfit. The other times were in Missing Identity and As Seen on TV.
• There is a closed captioning error when Mr. Krabs says "Besides, how could a little news story possibly effect Mrs. Puff in any way?". (correct: "affect")
• This episode is a satire of the morbid habit of fabulist reporters who exaggerate actual news for their own ends, ignoring the fact that it may ruin lives (as shown by Mr. Krabs).
• When Mr. Krabs puts the "Press" identification badge on SpongeBob, it puts it over the belt-holder on SpongeBob. However when it zooms in, the belt-holder can be seen to the right.
• When Mr. Krabs walks into The Krusty Krab saying "What a money-tastical...", there is a sticker on The Krusty Krab of a burger. But when he finishes his sentence "...day, eh, Squidward?", once entering The Krusty Krab, the sticker is no longer there.
• This is the first time the title card is written on newspaper.
• Second time SpongeBob is on a title card.
• First time the Krabby Patty is on a title card.
• The headline saying "Plankton makes food from fish" is actually true. Chum is in fact ground up fish, guts, and blood.
  • Though in the episode Spongicus , Plankton reveals his chum is made up of whale blubber, jellyfish squeezings, seahorse snot, and a sprinkle of anchor rust. Made may have added this to add extra "flavor."
• When Larry got punched by the fish, you can see a road in one part but then no road. Plus, SpongeBob only took one picture at that time, not two.
• When Mr. Krabs was talking to SpongeBob in the first scene, SpongeBob's legs are not attached to his feet.
• Its unknown how SpongeBob insert a last picture article, no one ever took that picture. It is possible he got it from a hidden security camera.
• The monster that appears in this episode looks similar to a water bear (tardigrade), eccept this one has 6 arms, purple skin, and a large size.
• This episode was referenced in the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Episode: Ponyville Confidential, when Gabby Gums write juicy stories about people.
• This is one of few times SpongeBob complains about recieving little money from Mr. Krabs as SpongeBob usually doesn't care for money that much at all.
