The Chief is the instructor of the I.J.L.S.A. He only appears in the episode "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy V." He is a human being who lives on land and is broadcasted through a special underwater screen.

He is a human being. He wears a brown suit and a tie, and has gray hair.
History
He tells them the emergencies and missions of the team. In the episode, he informed Mermaid Man and the I.J.L.S.A. to take down Barnacle Man and E.V.I.L. at Make Out Reef.

- He is portrayed by Martin Olson.
- He's possibly a parody of Commissioner Gordon from the Batman series.
- He also sang You're Old on the radio in "Mid-Life Crustacean."
- He is one of few human characters that appears within the SpongeBob SquarePants series itself. The others include the French Narrator and David Hasselhoff.
