Trivia
General
- On the DVD cover, Patrick is not wearing a tie. However, in the episode this DVD cover art is based on, Patrick is wearing a tie.
- The back cover of this DVD contains pictures from these episodes:
- This DVD is rated PG in Canada.
- This is the only SpongeBob SquarePants DVD to have the Nickelodeon fish logo after the warning (anti-piracy) screen, where normally, it would be the other way around (first it would be the Nickelodeon fish logo (with or without a black screen for a few seconds before the logo starts), and then the anti-piracy screen). But for unknown reasons, the order was swapped.
- This is the first SpongeBob SquarePants DVD for seven things:
- The first SpongeBob DVD to contain previews, which can only be accessed through the main menu. These previews include a promo for other Nickelodeon DVDs and VHS tapes and Tak and the Power of Juju video game trailer.
- The first SpongeBob DVD to contain episode from just 2 seasons instead of 3.
- The first SpongeBob DVD to be released in 2003.
- The first SpongeBob DVD to include episode storyboards.
- The first SpongeBob DVD with a cover that's based on a special/double-length episode.
- The first SpongeBob DVD to feature Patrick on the front cover.
- The first SpongeBob DVD to not include any episodes from season 2.
- SpongeBob's line "Seriously?" is removed from the episode "Party Pooper Pants" on this DVD because there are no commercials on the DVD. However, the "seriously" line remains intact on the storyboard version featured on this DVD.
- On the opening credits of "Tea at the Treedome" on this DVD[1] and the Deep Sea Sillies VHS tape, Edgar Larrazábal is incorrectly credited as the animation director instead of Tom Yasumi. This also happens in early American reruns of "Tea at the Treedome,"[2][3] so it seems that these home media releases and early reruns are sourced from the same master copy. On The Complete 1st Season,[4] 10 Happiest Moments,[5] and The First 100 Episodes[6] DVD releases of "Tea at the Treedome," Tom Yasumi is credited correctly as the animation director instead of Edgar Larrazábal.
- There are two pairs of sister episodes on this DVD. The first is "Valentine's Day"/"The Paper" and the second is "Born Again Krabs"/"I Had an Accident."
- "Born Again Krabs" and "I Had an Accident" were released on this DVD nine months before premiering on American television, but those episodes are in reverse order on this DVD.
- All of the episodes on this DVD had clips during the "Underwater Sun" song music video on the special features, except for "I Had An Accident" and "Born Again Krabs."
- The "Drawing the Goo Lagoon" special can also be found on disc 3 of The Complete 1st Season DVD as a special feature.
- In different countries, this DVD and many other DVDs were bundle in different various boxsets.
- In some stores in the United States, this DVD is plastic wrapped with Lost at Sea as a bundle.[7]
- At some point, this DVD, Sea Stories, and Bikini Bottom Adventures were released together in a bundle called The Underwater Stories.
- On March 2, 2015 in Russian, this DVD, SpongeBob Goes Prehistoric, SpongeGuard on Duty, and Whale of a Birthday were released together in a bundle called the Favorite Episodes.
Errors
- On the copyright info on the back, it says, "TM, ® & Copyright © 2002 by Paramount Pictures. All Rights Reserved."[sic] even though this DVD was released in 2003. Considering how early in the year this DVD was released, it's likely that copies of this DVD were manufactured ahead of time in 2002.
- In the closed-captioning version of "Party Pooper Pants," any lines referring to "Potty" are misspelled as "Polly."
