"Survival of the Idiots" is a SpongeBob SquarePants episode from season two.
Brief summary: Sandy is hibernating, and SpongeBob and Patrick go inside Sandy's treedome, where it is snowing inside. When they find that the door is frozen shut, they have to find a way to survive the winter.

Plot
SpongeBob and Patrick are racing to Sandy's treedome to play. However, the dome has a metal cover on it, and a "KEEP OUT" sign. They go inside the entrance, where they see a video recording from Sandy explaining that she is hibernating for the Winter, and that they shouldn't disturb her. However, Patrick insists that they should go in. They open the door, and see that the inside of her treedome is filled with snow, which they are unfamiliar with. They go into the tree and find a monstrous version of Sandy, sleeping.
However, when they make too much noise in her room, she suddenly gets up, sleepwalking, and attempts to kill them, believing them to be "Dirty Dan" and "Pinhead Larry", outlaw villains from her dream. However, she soon falls back into her bed, asleep. SpongeBob and Patrick leave the tree to play in the snow. They pretend to be Dirty Dan and Pinhead Larry, mocking Sandy, and begin fighting over which one of them is Dirty Dan. This alerts Sandy, who she comes out of her tree and begins to attack SpongeBob and Patrick. She immediately throws Patrick aside when he is not looking, and then chases SpongeBob until he falls into a hole. SpongeBob tries to throw a piece of wood at her, but Patrick comes and gets in the way, accidentally taking the hit. He falls into the ditch and then Sandy pounces on them, beats them up, buries them alive, and goes back to bed. As the winter storm grows more intense, SpongeBob and Patrick try to escape, but find that the door's frozen shut. Unable to survive in the cold weather, they go into Sandy's tree and steal her fur, which they use as clothes. SpongeBob proclaims that he is prepared for the "longest, coldest Winter ever." However, Winter quickly comes to an end and Sandy wakes up, normal sized. She is surprised to see SpongeBob and Patrick, but soon realizes that they are wearing her fur and that she is bald. The last scene shows Sandy drinking lemonade with SpongeBob and Patrick, whose bodies are wrapped around hers to form a makeshift "coat".

Sandy: (on TV) Howdy! If y'all are watching this, it means I'm asleep for the winter. This sleep is called "hibernation". During hibernation, animals don't like to be woken up. So, do not disturb. (looks serious) That means you, SpongeBob.
- SpongeBob: What is this stuff?
Patrick: It's a vast, swirling wonderland of sparkling white pleasure. Let it fill your senses with cascading fluffy pillows of excitement and comfort, as you've never felt them before.
SpongeBob: Wow Patrick! That was beautiful.
Patrick: What? I was just reading this candy wrapper, see?

- Patrick: When are you going to learn, SpongeBob? No means yes.
- SpongeBob: Alright Pinhead, your time is up.
Patrick (with a pointy head): Who ya callin' Pinhead? I want to be Dirty Dan.
SpongeBob: What makes you think you could be Dirty Dan?
Patrick: (Proudly) I'm dirty.
- Patrick: I'm so cold, I'm shivering!
SpongeBob: I'm so cold, I can use my nose drippings as a pair of chopsticks!
Patrick: I'm so cold...I'm shivering! - SpongeBob: Maybe we can build a fire. I've got it! We'll burn the bark from Sandy's tree! (He peels some bark off of the tree.)
Sandy (still sleeping): You're gonna be wearing an iron lung when I'm through with you, Pinhead. (SpongeBob tapes it back up.)
SpongeBob: The fire's not going to happen, Patrick.
- SpongeBob: (Looking at Sandy) That's disturbing.
Patrick: That's not disturbing, this is disturbing (Makes face with the skin on his back) Hi, SpongeBob, my name is PatBack.
SpongeBob: That is disturbing!!
Trivia/Goofs
- The title is a reference to the phrase "Survival of the Fittest".
- This episode could be seen as a sequel to "Prehibernation Week". However, Sandy explained hibernation to SpongeBob in that episode, yet he still does not know what it is in this episode.
- According to the audio commentary for this episode, it was originally supposed to have a different title.
- In the original storyboard, Sandy's bed was hanging from the ceiling, and there was much more saliva. This was changed to make it less gross.
- When Sandy jumps at SpongeBob in the hole, SpongeBob has no feet.
- When SpongeBob and Patrick first enter the treedome, there is no door on Sandy's tree.
- At the end of the episode, when the snow has melted and Sandy first sees SpongeBob and Patrick with her fur, there is no water left in the treedome. However, this doesn't affect SpongeBob and Patrick. Similarly, earlier in the episode, when Spongebob and Patrick were depending on snow for hydration, they are not affected by the lack of snow while inside Sandy's Tree.
- Sandy's treedome was previously shown during the Winter in "Bubble Buddy".
- When SpongeBob is in the hole and picks up a plank, there is another one behind him. When the scene changed to Sandy and back to SpongeBob, the plank is gone.
- This isn't the first time it snowed underwater.
- How did snow get into the Treedome?
- When Spongebob is standing next to Patrick, he has ice and snow on his head. When he runs to the tree it vanishes. When he returns back to his spot, it's back on his head as if it never left.
