The SquarePants family is a family of sponges who descend from the primitive sponge as well as SpongeGar, who discovered fire along with Patar and Squog. The primitive sponges lived in what was most likely Bikini Bottom. The history of the SquarePants family is unknown until the eighteenth century, when SpongeBuck SquarePants settled in Bikini Gulch, which is modern-day Bikini Bottom. His descendants still live in Bikini Bottom, the most notable being SpongeBob SquarePants. Somewhere along the SquarePants line between SpongeGar and SpongeBuck, a family member left the place known currently as Bikini Bottom, this was revealed in Pest of the West, when SpongeBuck came on the train to Dead Eye Gulch.

Modern Era
SpongeBob SquarePants
SpongeBob SquarePants is the title character of the series. He is in every episode in the series and Every SpongeBob SquarePants video game.
He is unfanonly the only child of Margaret SquarePants and Harold SquarePants.
Grandpa SquarePants
Grandpa SquarePants was the father of Harold, Sherm, and Blue SquarePants. He is also the paternal grandfather of SpongeBob, Todd, Larry, Blackjack, and Stanley. He is voiced by Tom Kenny. He very much resembles SpongeBob's square shape. He was first mentioned in "Rock Bottom", and is depicted in SpongeBob's mind in "The Sponge Who Could Fly". He is known for his wise sayings, which include "If we were meant to fly, we had have propellers on our heads or jet engines on our backs." ("The Sponge Who Could Fly") and "Never run for a bus, especially one that's going up at a 90 degree angle." ("Rock Bottom"). SpongeBob refers to him in the past tense and his wife, Grandma SquarePants, lives alone, implying that he is deceased.
Grandma SquarePants
Grandma SquarePants is the widow of Grandpa SquarePants, the mother of Harold, Sherm, and Captain Blue SquarePants. She is also the paternal grandmother of SpongeBob, Larry, Todd, Blackjack, and Stanley. She is voiced by Marion Ross. Grandma SquarePants tends to dote on her grandchild. [1] According to the book "Camp SpongeBob", SpongeBob was always sent to his grandma's during the summertime. Grandma SquarePants lovingly treats her grandson like a baby whenever he visits, and does stereotypical Grandma-like things for him, such as making gingerbread men, chocolate chip cookies and homemade sweaters with metaphorical love in every stitch. Unlike SpongeBob, she is round in shape and brownish in color, much like an actual sea sponge. She also appears in the video game "SpongeBob SquarePants: Employee of the Month", in which the player can visit her in her house. She's always acting as if Patrick is her actual grandson. She appears again in the Employee of the Month video game, "BlackJack," "The Abrasive Side," and "Pet Sitter Pat."
Harold SquarePants
Harold SquarePants is SpongeBob's father, the son of Grandma and Grandpa SquarePants, uncle of Stanley, Blackjack, Larry and Todd SquarePants and brother of Sherm and Blue SquarePants. Harold SquarePants has brown eyes, a mustache and wears thick glasses. He is round, wears a white shirt and brown pants pulled up to his stomach.
Harold debuted in "Home Sweet Pineapple", where he came to pick up SpongeBob after nematodes ate his pineapple house. In this episode, when SpongeBob is in his parents' car, he says "Good-bye Bikini Bottom!” which indicates that SpongeBob's parents do not live in Bikini Bottom. They later appeared in "Culture Shock" as they watched the Krusty Krab talent show, and in No Free Rides", where Harold SquarePants kissed Mrs. Puff's hand and gave his son a boatmobile for passing his driver's test. In "Driven to Tears" they seem sad that SpongeBob doesn't have his license, saying how "even Patrick has a license". His name was revealed in "BlackJack" when Mrs. SquarePants says "I told you, Harold, that was the fumigator's fault." In "New Digs," they visit SpongeBob while he is living at the Krusty Krab. Harold is voiced by Tom Kenny. Unlike SpongeBob, he looks more like a natural sponge since he has a round head.
Margaret SquarePants
Margaret SquarePants (née Bubblebottom) is Harold's wife, SpongeBob's mother, daughter-in-law of Grandpa and Grandma SquarePants, sister-in-law of Captain Blue and Sherm, and the aunt of Larry, Todd, Blackjack, and Stanley. She has black hair and is dressed in a purple matchbox dress with matching sleeveless pantalets and has a pearl necklace. She debuted in "Home Sweet Pineapple", where they came to pick up SpongeBob after nematodes ruined his pineapple house. In this episode, when SpongeBob is in his parents' car, he says "Good-bye Bikini Bottom!” which indicates that SpongeBob's parents do not live in Bikini Bottom. They later appeared in "Culture Shock" as they watched the Krusty Krab talent show, and in "No Free Rides", where they gave their son a boatmobile for passing his driver's test. In "Driven to Tears" they seem sad that SpongeBob does not have his license, saying how "even Patrick has a license." Margaret is voiced by Sirena Irwin. Unlike SpongeBob, both his parents are more like natural sponges since they have round heads. In Whelk Attack, it's revealed that her maiden name was Bubblebottom.
Sherm SquarePants
Sherm SquarePants is Harold and Blue's youngest brother, Grandma and Grandpa SquarePants' youngest son and the father of Stanley, and SpongeBob's uncle. Sherm was first mentioned in the episode "Krab Borg"; he was also mentioned in "Nicktoons: Battle for Volcano Island". In the episode "Stanley S. SquarePants", Sherm sent his son, Stanley to live with SpongeBob since Sherm was fed up with his clumsiness. He is seen in this photo in "Pest of the West." He has the ability to stick a watermelon in his nose, as revealed in the same episode. Also he is square-shaped like SpongeBob and his son, Stanley.
Blue SquarePants
Blue SquarePants is the oldest son of Grandma and Grandpa SquarePants. He is a brother of Harold and Sherm SquarePants, the uncle of SpongeBob, Blackjack and Stanley SquarePants, and the father of Larry and Todd SquarePants, He is round, light orange in color, wears a blue cap, and has a grey beard. Captain Blue is a retired police captain. He lives next to Blackjack. He is voiced by Garnett Sailor. In the episode, BlackJack, SpongeBob told him that he needs help from him to save his parents from Blackjack, but Blue said he was retired. He enjoys drinking Clam Tomato Chowder Juice, and listening to classic music with his record player. He has referred to SpongeBob as "Little Bobby," or "Bobby."
Stanley S. SquarePants
Stanley S. SquarePants is the son of Sherm, and SpongeBob's cousin who appeared in the episode of the same name. Sherm sent him to SpongeBob because Stanley couldn't keep a job, and everything he touched would break. SpongeBob attempts to find Stanley's purpose in life. However, Stanley's clumsy attributes lead him to destroy things. While working at the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob took the blame for Stanley's mistakes. When the truth was revealed, Mr. Krabs had an idea; he had Stanley work for the Chum Bucket, since everything he touches breaks. In the end, the Chum Bucket was destroyed, much to Plankton's dismay.
BlackJack SquarePants
BlackJack SquarePants is SpongeBob's older cousin who beat up SpongeBob when they were young. Later in life, he was sent to prison for littering. He appears in the episode "BlackJack", where he is released from prison, and his family holds a party to welcome him back. However, SpongeBob believes that Blackjack had kidnapped his parents until the true nature of the situation was revealed. SpongeBob's father explains to him that Blackjack has learned his lesson and renounced his criminal ways, but SpongeBob is still scared and does not believe that he changed. While he was in prison, Blackjack somehow shrunk to the size of a shoe. He is voiced by John Di Maggio
Todd SquarePants
Todd SquarePants is SpongeBob's second little cousin who appeared in the Story Reader book, ‘‘The Never-Ending Stay. He was to stay in SpongeBob's house forever but he left in the ending.
Larry SquarePants
Larry SquarePants is SpongeBob's very little cousin. He was only mentioned in the video game, "Operation Krabby Patty."
Ancestors
Primitive Sponge
In "SB-129", Squidward accidentally travels to early prehistoric times, where he meets early ancestors of SpongeBob and Patrick. This primitive sponge has little in common with his modern counterpart, being a savage and unintelligent creature with no discernible spoken language. He and the primitive starfish are seen stinging themselves with a jellyfish, and Squidward teaches them jellyfishing to stop them from torturing themselves, inadvertently inventing the sport in the process. He then sits down to play his clarinet, but SpongeBob and Patrick's ancestors are angered by the sound, and begin viciously chasing him until he reaches the time machine.
SpongeGar
SpongeGar is a prehistoric version of SpongeBob seen in "Ugh". SpongeGar and Patar are distinct from the Neanderthals seen in "SB-129", more closely resembling their modern day counterparts and having developed a simple language. They, along with Squog inadvertently discover fire, and quickly begin fighting over it.
SpongeBuck SquarePants
SpongeBuck SquarePants is an ancestor of the SquarePants family. He is the great-great-great-great-great-grandfather of Grandpa SquarePants, the great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather of Harold, Blue, and Sherm SquarePants, and the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather of SpongeBob, BlackJack, Todd, and Stanley SquarePants. He appeared in "Pest of the West". SpongeBuck moved to Dead Eye Gulch, where he was seeking a job. He was immediately hired as the sheriff. He stood up to Dead Eye Plankton, a wealthy citizen who owned almost all the land in the town. SpongeBuck defeated him in a western-style stand-off, where he stomped on him. SpongeBuck had saved the town and in his honor, a statue was built. The statue was put in the center of the town, and, centuries later stood in downtown Bikini Bottom, where it was covered in jellyfish waste. When SpongeBob discovered his descent from SpongeBuck, he cleaned the statue to reveal his ancestor. SpongeBuck's story appears in the book, "Family Histories of Bikini Bottom". SpongeBuck has a tapeworm in his stomach.
Future Era
SpongeBob's Grandson
SpongeBob's Grandson only appears in The Great Patty Caper, where he was shown 75 years into the future. He heard the story of Great Patty Caper that his Grandfather told him, though entirely ignored his SpongeBob's story by playing a video game and saying, "I beat my high score." He looks just like his SpongeBob, but with a red hat, lighter voice and wears different clothes. Since during the series SpongeBob is known to be in his twenties, and thus in his nineties at the time of this descendant's childhood, the child could be either a grandson or great grandson of SpongeBob.
SpongeTron
SpongeTron is a descendant of SpongeBob SquarePants who lives in the 41st Century. He looks virtually identical to his present-day counterpart, but has various robotic abilities, such as hovering (He hovers by rocket, he might have got it from SpongeBob since he can hover in the episode Jellyfish Hunter and Krusty Towers) and heat vision. He can change appearance by naming himself SpongeTron (changes with everything on him going square). He then changes back to normal form. He has 486 clones, each representing a letter of the alphabet, which has apparently been greatly expanded in the future. He was seen in SB-129 to help Squidward get to the time machine, but misleads him into the can opener room. His best friend is Patron who has two heads.
