A "literal version" (describing what goes on in the video) was made as a Nickelodeon commercial. It goes as such:

Trivia
- Derek Drymon makes a comment about the SpongeBob theme song: "Steve's idea was to try to make the most annoying song you can, to—so when Saturday morning, when kids turn the TV on and parents are trying to sleep, you have this pirate screaming in the other room for the kids to jump on the floor."
- The song is based on the sea shanty, "Blow the Man Down."
- You can see Squidward Tentacles house on the left after Painty yells, "Ooooooooooooooh!"
- Captain Maggot of Emilie Autumn's musical group likes to sing this song.
- In the Square Roots version, Avril Lavigne sings it.
- There was a new opening, but to be only seen in Truth or Square.
- SquidBob TentaclePants had an opening, but later on, it was switch back into the normal theme song.
- In the movie, it was a real song.
- After Season 2, the animation was changed, followed by an HD transition from Season 9 onwards. Despite this, the song remains in its original cell animated, SD version throughout the entire series, even with the newer episodes.
