Proposal

I believe that only the creator of a proposal should be the one who closes the proposal.

This will be effective so that no confusion will occur and when the creator of the proposal thinks that the proposal has passed or not passed, then he or she will close it.

If this passes, then this will be the last proposal to be closed by a person who is not the creator

  • Oppose Oppose - I disagree mainly because it is sometimes inappropriate for the creator of the proposal to close it especially if they are away. Why is it such an inconvenience for others (Admins and bureaucrats) to close proposals? To me, this just allows users who create proposals to disregard the result by refusing to close the discussion. Again, I don't see why this is such a big deal... =) --Spongebob456 talk 16:40, January 27, 2014 (UTC)
  • Oppose Oppose - - first of all, only administrators should close proposals. Secondly, Spongebob456 has two good points... the proposal opener may be away. Some proposals have last for months and thirdly, if the proposal creator does not like the results, they may not end the discussion. I always give a reasonable amount of time before closing the discussion. I could not close the "Banning Spoilers" discussion until this week because there was no consensus (4 support and 5 oppose). If you don't like the results of this proposal, when are you going to close this proposal? I usually give it a week and usually we have a clear consensus. If not, I let the discussion run on until there is a consensus. The "Banning Spoilers" proposal had 2 supports and 8 opposes. One support is from the opener of the discussion. 3 were neutral. — AMK152 23:37, January 27, 2014 (UTC)
  • Oppose Oppose - - I think AMK152, and Spongebob456 have great points of view. What if a proposer opens a proposal, and suddenly can't get back (is away for weeks, power failure, internet malfunction, etc.)? What if they suddenly are un-able to close the thread at any time. It should be no problem to a B-Crat, or Admin to close a thread, because the proposer is unable to do so. If a proposal has had no reaction for a week, then an admin+ should be able to close it. Period. No hoops to jump through. And if the proposer believes that the thread should continue, then he/she should be aloud to re-open it. Plus, if there are equal, or almost equal supports and opposes, then the proposal should stay open. But all in all, no, the creator of a proposal shouldn't have to close it, just because they created it. ~ Tanhamman 23:45, January 27, 2014 (UTC)
  •  Oppose Oppose - That's ridiculous. I am your father. No, I am not. 01:39, January 28, 2014 (UTC)
