Paul Mavis of DVD Talk in a review of this DVD, criticized the main episode for being "not funny enough to headline its own SpongeBob SquarePants DVD" and its "laugh-skimpy script." He also called the shorts featured "tired," while also comparing it to "Pest of the West." "A rental is perhaps best here for [it], to see if your child will want to watch them again."
Nicholas Breard of DVDSeries.net, in a review of it, called all the aspects of it fine, except the "impossible to skip" advertisements shown on the DVD, by calling them "quite unpleasant, especially on a DVD for children."
Currently retired critic Judge Roy Hrab of the DVD Verdict, highly criticized the DVD for its overall "unimpressive" episodes, shorts, and animatic, calling the at the time new episodes of the show "tedious."
