He wrote "If you or your kids are fine with the foot deal, then its really a mediocre game, may give them something to do for a day or two but that will probably be it. I'd wait until it's in the bargain bin if you must have it."[3] Common Sense Media review of this video game stated that the game is fun but forgettable.[4]

Prototype cover 2.

  • In the game's first trailer and early advertising, a prototype cover was used. This is because the game didn't have a finalized cover art at the time. The prototype consisted of a Rating Pending (RP) from the ESRB, the system logo, the new THQ logo, and the game's logo placed centered on a white or yellow background.
  • The Nintendo DS version of this video game has backward compatibility.
    • The Nintendo DS version can be played on all DSI/3DS/2DS units.
  • The Nintendo DS version has a bonus snowboarding gameplay included, but you have to complete the main story mode first to unlock this feature. The DS version has 70 snowboarding levels.
  • The graphics in the Nintendo DS version are very similar to the graphics featured in the DS versions of Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots and SpongeBob SquarePants featuring Nicktoons: Globs of Doom.
  • The Xbox 360 version has a different gameplay style compared to the Nintendo DS version.
Enchanted tikis in SpongeBob's Surf & Skate Roadtrip
  • Some of the enchanted tikis from the episode "Enchanted Tiki Dreams" can be seen during some of the surfing levels in the Xbox 360 version of this video game.
  • The Xbox 360 version has achievements which can be earned by completing certain tasks. For more details, go to these links: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/xbox360/639187-spongebobs-surf-and-skate-roadtrip/achievements https://www.coplanet.it/forum/archive/index.php/t-37182.html
  • The Xbox 360 version's files have some unused text that says, "PS3 Online Data Incorrect" and "Replace the batteries for the Wii Balance Board Please connect the Wii Balance Board to continue." This means that there were plans for PlayStation 3 and Wii versions of this video game at one point in development.[5]
  • This is the first SpongeBob SquarePants video game on Xbox 360 that uses Kinect unless you include the crossover game Nicktoons MLB.
  • This is the second and final SpongeBob SquarePants video game to use the new THQ logo. The first was SpongeBob SquigglePants.
  • This was the last SpongeBob SquarePants video game to be published by THQ; The company officially filed for bankruptcy and liquidated the assets before closing down on January 23, 2013.
    • The SpongeBob video game trilogy was sold independently to Nickelodeon's game division while other THQ-published games were sold to other video game companies.
    • As of 2016, the THQ trademark was bought by Nordic Games, and is now known as THQ Nordic.
  • This was the last SpongeBob SquarePants video game to be developed by Blitz Games.
    • This is also currently the last SpongeBob video game to be based on a double-length episode/mini-movie/tentpole event.
