What I do?

— Snail Fail's catchphrase
Character

Snail Fail is a character who first appears in the episode "Library Cards."

Description[]

He is a green sea snail with a blue shell with white spots and a red bowtie.

Outside of the show, Snail Fail wears a maroon bathrobe with a yellow neckerchief and brown shoes.

When performing theater, Snail Fail wears a purple hat with a yellow feather, a fake mustache, a purple shirt, and purple shoes.

On The Sir Urchin & Snail Fail Show!, Snail Fail is portrayed as Sir Urchin's cross-eyed bumbling assistant who repeatedly bashes him with objects to make him angry. His catchphrase, "What I do?", is always said in response to Sir Urchin yelling "Why, you!" However, as shown in "Sir Urchin and Snail Fail," he disapproves of this repetitive style of comedy and his portrayal on the show. He is actually quite high-class and seeks higher art to perform.

Role in series[]

SpongeBob SquarePants[]

"Library Cards"[]

He appears on The Sir Urchin & Snail Fail Show!, where he keeps hitting Sir Urchin with something heavy as he states "What I do?" Later in the episode, he and Sir Urchin are used to make Patrick dumb again.

"Arbor Day Disarray"[]

He and Sir Urchin appear on Patrick's TV, in the same episode seen in "Library Cards."

"Sir Urchin and Snail Fail"[]

In an episode of his show, Snail Fail is shown to work in Sir Urchin's mansion. Sir Urchin orders Snail Fail to dust his pieces of art, beginning with a painting. Sir Urchin tells him to dust the back, and when Snail Fail takes it off the wall, he accidentally smashes it on him. The audience laughs, and Snail Fail continues hitting Sir Urchin with random objects. He grows bored and suddenly begins giving a dramatic speech about the predictable nature of the show. He tells Sir Urchin that he wants to be a more theatrical actor, and quits the show when Sir Urchin refuses to budge.

SpongeBob mails himself to Snail Fail, who refuses to meet back up with Sir Urchin. SpongeBob gives Snail Fail a stage to perform on at Shady Shoals Rest Home, where the two re-enact Hamlet together. The audience disapproves, and Snail Fail muses that he needs a different place. A newspaper boy notifies him of a talent show, which he chooses to attend. Backstage, he meets up with Sir Urchin again. SpongeBob and Patrick want them to be friends again, but they get into an argument, with Snail Fail smashing Sir Urchin's monocle. They go out on-stage and begin smashing objects over each other, as they did on their show. The audience enjoys this, believing it to be an act. When the two notice, Snail Fail turns to them and asks, "What I do?", to much applause.

Sir Urchin and Snail Fail hug and reunite. Snail Fail apologizes for trying to change him, but Sir Urchin agrees to make the show more serious as long as they can be together again. The next week, the show continues with Snail Fail giving a monologue. Suddenly, he smashes Sir Urchin with the skull he is holding, and asks, "What have I done?" They turn to the audience and give a shout-out to SpongeBob and Patrick for helping them get together. They also hit the two with hammers, leading them to react the same way as Sir Urchin.

The Patrick Star Show[]

"Bunny the Barbarian"[]

He and Sir Urchin appear in The Sir Urchin & Snail Fail Show! at the end of the episode.

"The Prehistoric Patrick Star Show"[]

Snail Fail appears on one of the "cavetoons" that Cave Patrick watches on his show. He tells Sir Urchin that he has invented slapstick, and when Sir Urchin asks to see it, he hits him with a tree branch. Sir Urchin gets angry, Snail Fail asks "What me do?", and hits him again. He also looks surprised when he overhears Cave Bunny calling Patrick for lunch.

"Olly Olly Organ Free"[]

He and Sir Urchin are seen when Patrick watches TV at the start of the episode.

Trivia[]

  • Snail Fail is a sea snail like Gary, who is also voiced by Tom Kenny. However, unlike Gary and nearly all of the other snails in the series, Snail Fail is more anthropomorphic and sapient with limbs and speaks English, instead of meowing like a cat. Additionally, he is not a pet and lives on his own unlike other snails in the series.
