Synopsis

An extremely rich man named Howard Blandy comes into the restaurant and asks Eugene H. Krabs to retire from his business for a large sum of money. Mr. Krabs happily accepts, leaving SpongeBob SquarePants and Squidward Tentacles with a simple "See you around," causing SpongeBob to cry hysterically. Afterwards, a new manager called Carl the Fish comes to them, renaming the Krusty Krab "Krabby O'Monday's. Mr. Krabs drives by, but ignores it, instead going to the newly opened Bikini Bottom Hook Museum, then when he is trying to paint a bowl of fruit, he actually paints a bowl of Krabby Patties, followed by a round of golf, however, he then realizes that he hates golf. Mr. Krabs has done everything he wanted to do and decides to go home, where he realizes he has nothing to do. He tries to talk to his daughter Pearl, but Pearl kicks Mr. Krabs out of the house and tells him to get a job. Downtrodden, Mr. Krabs goes to the beach to look for a job, but hits a glass door, with a sign saying "Help Wanted." It is one of the glass doors of the Krabby O' Monday's, so he goes inside to take a look at what job is vacated.

Meanwhile, Carl wants Squidward to have more spirit, so he threatens Squidward with a muscular Human Resources guy if he doesn't continually smile. Fearful, Squidward continues his work with a forced smile. Mr. Krabs gets a job at the Krabby O'Mondays working as a busboy, listening to SpongeBob complain about the problems. The problems are that the patties are processed and there is an automated cash register, with no-one watching it. Angered, Mr. Krabs complains, only to be ignored by Carl. He also finds out how the new patties are synthetically engineered, fake and disgusting. Now furious, Mr. Krabs shows the customers what the food is actually made of and the customers find out that the patties are made out of gray material. So they run away, making the restaurant unpopular. Mr. Krabs plugs the fake patty maker up, but escaping, processing slush and the pressurized air inside cause the whole restaurant to explode. Mr. Krabs retakes ownership of the destroyed restaurant by giving all his money back to Howard Blandy and renames it to "The Krusty Krab", saying that he got back the love of his "two best friends", that is, until the episode ends with a demand for Squidward and SpongeBob to clean up the mess. Then Mr Krabs presses the cash register when dollar bills appear in the whole screen, making it black and the episode ends.

• C.H. Greenblatt voices Carl, manager of the Krabby O' Mondays. This may be a reference to Greenblatt's first name, Carl.
• Howard Blandy bears a passing resemblance to billionaire Donald Trump, even wearing his blonde hair in a combover hairstyle.
• This is the third episode to show wood on the title card. The first was "Wet Painters" and the second was  "The Krusty Sponge".
• When the Krabby O'Mondays is being flooded by the Synthetic Patties, it is revealed that Mable wears a wig.
• The synthetic patties may be clam or jellyfish manure as the substance closely relates to the manure seen in Sleepy Time and Pest of the West.
• Cha-Ching is a variation on the song 'Rinkle rinkle' From the Mr. Magoo Christmas Carol TV movie from 1962. Originally sung by the character Scrooge, who Krabs was quite heavily based on.
• The Krabby O'Mondays patties being made with grey glop may be a reference to McDonald's using "pink slime" in their burgers. However, McDonald's discontinued the use of pink slime, and other fast-food chains followed suit.
• Carl is potrayed by C.H. Greenblatt who used to work on SpongeBob, and is the creator of the Cartoon Network show Chowder. His first name is Carl hence Carl's name.
• This is the first time Mr. Krabs works at the Krusty Krab (though it was called the Krabby O' Mondays) just as a regular employee. The second will be in Gullible Pants.
• When SpongeBob is wearing his Krabby O'Monday's Uniform, he looks like his ancestor, SpongeBuck SquarePants.

Cultural References

• Krabby O' Mondays is possibly a cross between the fictional Krusty Krab and real-life casual dining restaurants like O'Charley's, Beef O'Brady's, and especially TGI Friday's. The employees all wear colorful lapel buttons on their vests. The restaurant also has red-and-white pinstripe tables, which used to be a trademark of TGI Friday's.
• The trailer that has the suitcases full of money says "U Pull" on the side. This is a parody to U Haul.
• The gray gunk in the Synthetic Krabby Patties could be a possible reference to McDonald's using "pink slime" in their burgers.

Errors

• For some reason, when Mr. Krabs sings about sounds and sights, he slams a bird instead of a clam, which is not normal since clams replace birds underwater.
• All the customers flee when they see the garbage they are eating. When the Krabby O Mondays gets flooded with the garbage, all the customers are back in the restaurant.
• When Mr. Krabs sings, he suggests that he loves money and greed more than Pearl.
• Mr. Krabs asked Blandy "Do I still get the money?", Blandy said "Of course", but the subtitles say "Yes".
