A salad is a food consisting only of the Krabby Patty's tomato and lettuce. It was sold at the Kuddly Krab in the episode "Bossy Boots." Before it was sold there, Mr. Krabs opened a Salad Bar as a gimmick to get customers in the episode "Culture Shock."
Role in series
In "Culture Shock," the Krusty Krab appears to have a salad bar. In this particular episode, Mr. Krabs makes the salad bar free after having a very long loss of customers.
In "Bossy Boots," SpongeBob is ordered to make two salads. Pearl makes one by removing everything from two Krabby Patties except the tomato and lettuce. This shocks SpongeBob, who has apparently never seen a salad before. Even though he is brokenhearted after destroying a couple of Krabby Patties, he sadly brings them to the customers (to the point of tears). They appear to be sad too.
In "My Pretty Seahorse," the salad bar is also seen when Mystery eats out of it. She also eats Mr. Krabs' money, thinking it was salad.
Trivia
- Ironically, a side salad is usually seen on the menu, indicating that SpongeBob does know how to make a salad.
- This also means that customers do not order salads from the Krusty Krab.
- SpongeBob calls the salads "sa-lads" as a running gag in the episode "Bossy Boots."
- In the episodes "Pickles" and "Krusty Krab Training Video," it is seen on the menu as "Seaweed Salad."
