He goes into hiding to escape from her, and Sandy, worrying for his safety, forces everyone in [[Bikini Bottom]] to form a search party for SpongeBob. Sandy has them search in dangerous places such as sulfur fields and a poison sea urchin cove. After days of searching with no success, they all wanted a break, and take care of their children, but Sandy suggest to use them to crawl under places the adults can't reach. After someone whispered "This is a load of barnacles", Sandy goes mad saying that no one is going anywhere until they find him. Everyone tried to fool Sandy that they found him by SpongeBob's shape and color like a fish, a cereal box, and a banana, but she doesn't buy any of that. One fooled her that he was up in the sky, But after realizing that he's not in the sky, Sandy sees that everyone was gone, and thinking they've gone to search for more. Eventually everyone was hiding under Patrick's rock. Still frantic, Sandy now starts literally destroying the city while looking for SpongeBob. SpongeBob made everyone find him when he said "You said it, Sandy will never find us here" everyone looked at him, and throw him out for Sandy to find. To let Sandy notice him, Squidward shouted "Oh look it is I Spongebob out here in the open" and Sandy found him with SpongeBob was frightened and wanted to go back under the rock, but Sandy grabbed his head. Sandy is relieved to see him and gives SpongeBob a bone-crushing hug. She says that they have just enough time to go "atom smashing" before she hibernates, but SpongeBob finally explains to her that she is hurting him. While he does so, he realizes that Sandy has fallen asleep, and the relieved SpongeBob then falls asleep as well. Patrick, eating an ice cream and carrying a grocery bag, appears and sees the people under his rock, exclaiming "Who are you people?!" as the episode ends.

This is the second episode for a few things:
The second episode to have an animated title card. The first is "SB-129."
The second episode to have a comedy drummer gag. The first is "Culture Shock."
The second episode where SpongeBob says, "This squirrel's trying to kill me." The first is "MuscleBob BuffPants."
The poster Fred puts up has the same drawing seen on the cover of the pitch bible.
The sketch on the poster is also the one on the show's logo in the theme song.
The background in the scene where SpongeBob and Sandy play "hay in the needle stack" is similar to the title card for "Bubble Troubles."
Sandy mentions the episode's main title when she says, "I gotta say, I'm impressed with you, SpongeBob. You're making this the best Prehibernation Week ever."
SpongeBob breaks the fourth wall by noticing the ostensibly non-diegetic heavy metal music when Sandy is preparing to pedal the bike.
During The Complete 2nd Season Audio Commentary for this episode,[2]C.H. Greenblatt says when SpongeBob gets on the bike, he looks right when the music starts to play. He is supposed to actually look after it starts playing, as a visual cue. This was an animation error.
In the audio commentary for this episode,[2] one of the people in the commentary makes fun of the Industrial Park by calling it "post-apocalyptic Bikini Bottom." Ironically, 10 years after this commentary was recorded, Bikini Bottom actually did become post-apocalyptic in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.
It is revealed in the audio commentary for this episode[2] that Aaron Springer performed the real-life drummer. The same commentary also revealed that it took a whole morning to set up the real-life drummer scene.
The song "Prehibernation" performed by Pantera is part of a solo featured in their song "Death Rattle;" it starts at 2:31 and ends at about 2:43.
Even though this episode features the special guest band Pantera, it does not feature Pantera's drummer, Vinnie Paul; instead, the drums in this episode are played by Paul Tibbitt.[citation needed]
During the search party scene where the Bikini Bottomites are searching for SpongeBob, one fish is heard whistling and saying, "Here, boy!" as if he was calling a dog.
During the scene with the sea elephant, there are two Incidental 41 models; one goes into the elephant and the other stands near Sandy.
In the Filipino dub, at the final scene, Patrick says "Ba't andiyan kayo sa bahay ko? (What are you doing at my house?)" instead of "Who are you people?"[4]
Cultural references
The game "Find the hay in the needle stack" is a switch on "find the needle in the hay stack."
Two kids building a sandman and singing a song in hopes of him coming to life is a reference to the song "Frosty the Snowman."
Errors
Sandy without the bikini bottoms underneath her skirt
When Sandy goes over to paint her fence, the green bikini bottom she wears underneath her skirt is gone.
Even though Sandy paints entirely over SpongeBob's water helmet with white paint, his eyes are still visible.
Black acorn
Throughout the entire episode, Sandy's acorn is black rather than its usual color. This error also occurs in "Wormy."
The outline of her tongue is also colored black throughout the episode, as opposed to red.
When SpongeBob's pants get stuck on the shell, his sweatband falls off as well. However, in the next shot when Sandy appears, the sweatband is missing.
There is a column left of "Sunday" on the calendar in Sandy's treedome.
The calendar that Sandy pulls down when she and SpongeBob are frozen in the lake only has 20 days and only has five days a week.
After Charlie asks if he can go home and Sandy looks angry, her neck is the same color as the lower side of her face.
In the closing credits, Aaron Springer, who performed the real-life drummer, is uncredited.
When Sandy lifts up the building to reveal a guy on a bike holding a lollipop, her tail is gone.

When SpongeBob yells "You don't understand!," his pupils turn black in the animation smear.

For unknown reasons, the audio for this episode and its sister episode are low-pitched on Paramount+ and Nicktoons airings. This error didn't occur on any other airing or release.
In the shot following SpongeBob holding the shaving razor, it disappears, then briefly reappears in SpongeBob's hands for a few frames.
