Plot

SpongeBob hears a shriek in Jellyfish fields and thinks that shriek came from Patrick. Instead, it came from a clam, that was choking on a pearl. The clam coughs up the pearl, and Patrick thought it is a volleyball and take it to the volleyball court. At the volleyball court, a local Bikini Bottom citizen offers SpongeBob a "small amount" of fortune for his pearl. SpongeBob accepted, and he instead got loads of trucks dumping money on SpongeBob's house. SpongeBob and Patrick used the money by spending it on gum.

Later SpongeBob gives out money to others causing him to get a lot of friends. SpongeBob was overtaken by fame that he forgot Patrick was his best friend. Eventually, SpongeBob runs out of money and so he returns to his former life. At the end, Patrick says he found another volleyball at the Bikini Bottom Diamond Mine, which is really a large diamond.

Major Events

  • SpongeBob and Patrick become rich for the third time.
  • SpongeBob becomes obsessed with money for the first time.

Trivia

  • Patrick's dad is mentioned. And it can possibly prove that Patrick has a bad relationship with him.
  • The "Slimelick Menuver" is an obvious parody to the Himelick Menuver.
  • This is the only title card with green triangles on without any whales put in it almost like the title card Growth Spout.
  • This is the second episode in which Kelp Jerky is seen. The first episode is Sun Bleached.
  • SpongeBob's rich behavior is similar to Royal Patrick in Rule of Dumb.
  • This episode is to air with Choir Boys which means it only shows its first time on its first airing until its partner airs, but at the end of The SpongeBob Triple Play, it aired without even Choir Boys in sight.
  • One of the new best friends seen walking with SpongeBob is the judge from the pet contest in Grooming Gary.
  • Patrick is considerably wiser and more down-to-earth in this episode than most. He advises SpongeBob not to throw away his money.
  • Patrick asks SpongeBob what is white that comes from a clam, but the pearl they find is purple, not white.
  • When SpongeBob buys ice cream, Harold behind him ordered a Triple Gooberry Sundae with extra nuts, the Triple Gooberry Sundae was at Goofy Goober's in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie and mentioned in The Clash of Triton.
  • The title card is same as Perfect Chemistry, but the background is green instead of blue, and the triangles are right side up. This is also similar to New Fish in Town, where the triangles are sideways instead.
  • Kelp jerky is a parody of a beef jerky, yet it is questionable because in the episode "Giant Squidward" it appears to be a plant rather than meat. however, it could just be dried kelp and not meat at all.
  • The diamond and pearl balls are similar to the ones in the Pokemon DP Galactic Battles season finale episode Dialga and Palkia! The Final Battle!.
  • When this episode first aired during the Super Stuffed Nicksgiving weekend, it was originally scheduled that this episode would air at 8:30 pm, while the premier of The Penguins of Madagascar episode "Gone in a Flash" would air at 8:45. For unknown reasons, the staff at Nickelodeon switched the times, so this episode aired at 8:45. Some fans became furious because their DVRs recorded the Penguins of Madagascar episode instead of this episode.
  • This is one of few episodes (or probabiltity the only episode) that Spongebob actually cares for his money as he usually doesn't accept any money.
  • This is the third episode where SpongeBob and Patrick make a lot of money. The first was in Chocolate with Nuts and the second was in Patty Hype.
