Person

Paul Harrison Tibbitt (born May 13, 1968; age 50) is one of the main SpongeBob SquarePants crew members. When Stephen Hillenburg left the show after the first movie, Tibbitt took over the position of showrunner. After the second movie, he became executive producer with Hillenburg for the remainder of season 9. His position as the supervising producer and the showrunner was succeeded by Vincent Waller and Marc Ceccarelli in 2015.

Starting with the season 10 premiere episode, "Whirly Brains," Tibbitt is no longer credited as an executive producer, and left to work on the third SpongeBob movie, alongside Kyle McCulloch. After the third movie, it has been said that he has no plans to return to the show.[1]

Trivia

  • In the opening credits for "My Pretty Seahorse," his name is misspelled as "Paul Tibbit," shown without a second "t."
  • Tibbitt currently has no plans to return to SpongeBob SquarePants after the third movie, so until he has plans to return, this will be his final project on SpongeBob after nearly twenty years of being a crew member.[1]
