Patrick! The Game is a board game created by Patrick and a major plot element of the episode of the same name. It later makes cameos in the episodes "Plankton Gets the Boot," "Bubble Bass's Tab," and "Pet the Rock."

Description[]

Patrick uses numerous amounts of board games, including Apologies!, Battling Robo-Tops, The Game of Misery, Grab 'Em Twigs, Bottomopoly, Sea Snakes and Ladders, Secret Date, World Take Over, Battle Boats, Surgery, Brain Trivia, Rat Catcher, Birdiecheesi, Cavityland, Slot Car Race Set, Starving Starving Sea Stars, and what seem to be counterparts to Twister, backgammon, and Chinese checkers, to make Patrick! The Game by cutting, gluing, taping them together, and bringing it to life in a Frankenstein style. The shape of the game is shown to be roughly the shape of Patrick.

List of rules[]

  • If a player is in jail, they have to stay in there until they roll a 6 or someone says their name. The former of these, however has no purpose, as a player may not roll when they are in jail.
  • If a person declares "outsides," all players must go outside.
  • No player may declare themselves the automatic winner.

Features[]

Game pieces[]

  • Patrick made out of glue and googly eyes (Patrick)
  • Nut (Sandy)
  • Ship (SpongeBob)
  • Top hat (Squidward)

Cards[]

  • Driver's license - Allows the player to drive a miniature car across the board as many times as they want.
  • Rule cards - Cards with a rule written on each of them. They have nothing to do with the gameplay.
  • Surgery cards - If a player lands on "Do a Surgery," they have to pick one of the four cards. Only one card (remove fin bone from player to your left) was revealed.
    • Remove fin bone from the player to your left
  • Chance cards - The player has to do what is written on the card.
    • Giggle Zone - The players have to giggle.
    • Silly Face - The players have to make silly faces.

Spaces[]

  • Free $ - Gives the player money.
  • Goo Lagoon - One of the avenues. A player is able to buy this space.
  • Lose a Turn - The player has to skip one turn once they land on this space, however, no one has ever landed on it.
  • Coral Avenue - One of the avenues. A player is able to buy this space.
  • Go to Jail - Sends the player to jail and has to stay there for the whole game (see rule one for how to get out of jail). There are in fact two spaces relating to it.
  • Treasure - Gives the player a random item (usually a driver's license).
  • Snacks - Gives the player snacks.
  • Do a Surgery - Gives the player a choice of four surgery cards (see Cards, entry three for more information).
  • Driver's License - Gives the player a driver's license. However, this space would be useless if the player had already received a driver's license from the Treasure space, and vice versa.

Other features[]

  • Jail - The player is placed in here when landing on a "Go to Jail" space. They are then given a box, resembling a jail cell, apparently with a real prisoner inside, on their head (see rule one for how to get out of jail).
  • Race track - Players are able to drive a miniature car through the track if they have a driver's license. Unfortunately, due to the race track being placed around the board, there is a chance of the car wiggling the board, leading to a player's figure moving from one space to another, and this affects gameplay.
  • Starving Starving Sea Star Time - Occurring randomly, the players have to feed Patrick snacks, though it has only occurred once.

Role in series[]

"Patrick! The Game"[]

SpongeBob and Patrick are playing Certified Public Accountant, but they think the game is too boring, so Patrick decides to invent his own game. First, he decides to create games such as Tic-Tac, Rock, Paper, Butter, and Whose Rope is Longer?, and asks Squidward to test out his games. All of these games turn out to be failures.

He then decides to go ask Sandy for advice, and she suggests using elements from other games he likes and begins researching. Thus, Patrick! The Game is created.

However, the game is destroyed by Squidward, due to his anger about losing it and that the game made no sense to him. The police come and arrest Squidward for destroying Patrick's game, which is considered vandalism and destruction of private property.

"Plankton Gets the Boot"[]

It can be seen among a pile of other board games in SpongeBob's house when he and Plankton are watching a movie in the living room.

"Bubble Bass's Tab"[]

While trying to look for the game Three Deadly Challenges, it appears on SpongeBob's internal shelf of games.

"Pet the Rock"[]

Pieces of Patrick! The Game are smashed up and seen flying around when Rolly destroys Patrick's house. The bowl of snacks, the board itself, and the cardboard jail are among the bits that appear.

Trivia[]

  • This game contains elements from real-world board games, such as Monopoly and Operation, among others.
  • At the end of the episode, it says the game is for ages 6 and under and may cause brain damage.
  • Though the rules of Patrick! The Game state that no player may roll while in jail, Monopoly, the game on which it is based, requires the player to roll a double to get out of jail, marking one of the differences between the two games.
