Painty the Pirate, also referred to as Captain, is a painting of a pirate head with his parrot which appears at the beginning of, and sings the SpongeBob SquarePants Theme Song. His mouth is actually real, so he could talk. The real lips in the painting are the lips of Stephen Hillenburg, the show's creator. He also makes appearances in "Your Shoe's Untied" and "Wet Painters" (although later he only appears as an inanimate painting). He has a patch over his left eye, a skull-and-crossbones hat, and of course the parrot on his left shoulder. He is voiced by Patrick Pinney in most appearances, but in Truth or Square, in the "rejected" theme songs (Squidward Tentacles, Patrick Seastar, and Eugene Krabs versions,

Painty didn't appear in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie and it is unknown if he will appear in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 2.

Trivia
