Character

Painty the Pirate, also referred to as Captain, is a painting of a pirate head with a parrot which appears at the beginning of, and sings the SpongeBob SquarePants Theme Song. He is a recurring charecter is the show and features in the inroduction of every episode. His painted mouth is replaced by a live-action mouth, giving him the appearance of talking. The real lips in the painting are the lips of Stephen Hillenburg, the show's creator. He also makes appearances in "Your Shoe's Untied" and "Wet Painters" (although he only appears as an inanimate painting). He has a patch over his left eye, a skull-and-crossbones hat, and of course the parrot on his left shoulder. He is voiced by Patrick Pinney in most appearances, but in Truth or Square, in the "rejected" theme songs, Squidward Tentacles, Patrick Seastar, and Eugene Krabs serve as alternate voices to Painty the Pirate.

Painty doesn't appear in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie and it is unknown if he will appear in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 2.

Trivia

In Truth or Square?, the original painting of Painty is replaced by a talking fortune teller-like dummy, voiced by Cee-Lo Green.
He is often mistaken for Patchy the Pirate due to the similarities in each other's names.
He is the only character, besides SpongeBob, to appear in every episode.
