Trivia

Timeline
Timecards
none
  • When Mr. Krabs gets the "million dollar" hat, he goes back to his back yard where the previous buyers of the hat are all gathered, later to find none of them are interested in buying the hat at all. This is unrealistic that they would all still be waiting for him to return having known that the hat is now worthless.
  • The name of the episode is a reference to the saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure," coincidentally, The French narrator says exactly the same phrase at the beginning of the episode.
  • Grave Stone Markings read:
    • Here lies Squidward's hopes and dreams
    • R.I.P. Stupid
    • I'm with Stupid
    • Diver Dan
    • Rest in Peace
    • Old Salty lies beneath
    • Smitty Werben Man Jensen
  • This is the fourth episode where its title card is animated; the third being "Idiot Box."
  • This is the final episode of the series with the 1986 Paramount logo until "Ghoul Fools."
  • On YouTube poops, the tombstone that said "Here lies Squidward's hopes and dreams" has been used very often.
  • Floater Cemetery is a pun and reference to how fish float when they die.
  • In this episode SpongeBob's bedroom is on the first floor.  This is most likely because it would be impossible for Mr. Krabs to scare SpongeBob on the second floor.
  • Mr. Krabs claims that Smitty was #1 in boogie land, but it's unknown what Smitty was actually #1 for.

Cultural references

  • While he is fighting the skeletons., Mr. Krabs says "Look at me! I'm Errol Fin!" This is a reference to Errol Flynn's sword fighting as Robin Hood in "The Adventures of Robin Hood."
  • When the undead army appears, Mr. Krabs describes the many gruesome things zombies are known for doing in many stories and films depicting them.

Errors

  • When SpongeBob gives Mr. Krabs a bill, and then goes home to search for more money, he comes back with 2 bills in his hand.
  • When Mr. Krabs is standing infront of smitty's grave it says " Smitty Werben Man Jensen" but, according to the name, Mr. Krabs told SpongeBob it really should be "Smitty Werben Jager Man Jensen." The illustrater forgot the word "Jager."
  • When one fish tries to buy an umbrella from Mr. Krabs and is discovered to have holes in it, Mr. Krabs states that it was from the queen of Switzerland. It's illogical that Mr. Krabs (or the fish) know anything about Switzerland, being in the tropical Pacific Ocean.
  • In Indonesia, Krabs' line, which is "Of course I am!" changed to "Doomed me!"
    • Also, one of the collectors didn't say "Now that's worth a million dollars." He say "Now that's worth a billion dollars."
