— Octavius Rex, "The Chaperone"

Octavius Rex, also known as Long, Tan, and Handsome, is Pearl's ex-boyfriend, who first appears in the episode "The Chaperone." He later returns in the season 9 episode "Goodbye, Krabby Patty?" and begins to make more recurring appearances.

He is Debbie Rechid's husband.

He is a skinny, maple-brown fish who wears a light green sweater with brown pants and large round black glasses. He has a large visible bald spot on his head.

From "Goodbye, Krabby Patty?" onwards, his design has changed; he is usually light beige with a blue sweater, a pink shirt, a purple bow tie, brown pants, and a pair of black shoes.

In "Snooze You Lose," he is light blue with a brown sweater, a beige shirt, a red bow tie, and dark brown pants.

Role in episodeEdit

"The Chaperone"Edit

Pearl mentions Octavius Rex as "Long, Tan, and Handsome."

He then appears at the prom, alone. Later, he asks Pearl to dance with him but she refuses since she is dancing with SpongeBob.

"Goodbye, Krabby Patty?"Edit

Octavius appears outside of the Mirror Shop as one of the bystanders who are disgusted and puzzled by what SpongeBob and Patrick did in front of the store.

"Mutiny on the Krusty"Edit

Octavius appears in the Krusty Krab and is quickly the one to judge Mr. Krabs and Squidward. He and the other Bikini Bottomites are trying to leave the restaurant.

"Snooze You Lose"Edit

Octavius appears alongside Maestro Mackerel at the concert hall. At first, Maestro does not know who is on the stage, but Octavius tells him it is Squidward and that he is a clarinet player. At first he enjoys watching him play the clarinet, but once Squidward wakes up he hates it.

"There's a Sponge in My Soup"Edit

Octavius is one of the customers in the Krusty Krab who orders the Krabby Soup. Sunshine emerges from the soup bowl and kisses him, causing his wife, Debbie, to hit him, complaining that he loves his soup more than her.

"Larry the Floor Manager"Edit

When Octavius is served his food on weights, he cannot lift them. Larry and Frank yell at him to push the weights, so he does, and manages to lift them onto a table. However, he passes out before he can eat.

  • "Meep."
  • "Well, that was anti-climactic."
  • "Okay, okay. I'll push it."

Pearl KrabsEdit

They dated for a while, but then Octavius broke up with her.

He then tries to talk to her at the prom in "The Chaperone," but Pearl rejects him.

Debbie RechidEdit

After the events of "The Chaperone," Octavius married Debbie. In "There's a Sponge in My Soup," when he is kissed by Sunshine, who is in his soup, Debbie hits him and complains that he loves his soup more than her.

  • Starting with "Mutiny on the Krusty," he longer says "meep" and now speaks full sentences.
