SB S01 E008A PROP Sc021 net gun

The net gun's model sheet.

The net gun is a weapon that first appears in the episode "Sandy's Rocket."

Description[]

It is a big light blue tube with a trigger and holder at the end. It shoots projectiles that trap the victim in an opaque-gray net. There is a gray stick with what can be assumed to be a counter of sorts near the back of the gun, on the skyward facing side. Rivets connect contorted rectangles to make a light blue tube. There is no sign of being able to reload the gun, besides possibly placing nets in the muzzle.

Operation[]

One pumps a trigger at the back of the gun, which supposedly loads the gun with nets that can be used later. There is no sign of being able to fire the gun at a wanted time. When it fires, it shoots a net that immediately captures around an object once it comes in contact with something. There doesn't seem to be a size limit for what the nets can capture seeing as SpongeBob and Patrick capture a whale with it.

Role in episode[]

It is first seen when Sandy pumps it on Earth. SpongeBob asks if it is a tool for "alien hunting," but Sandy says that it is used to collect samples, such as rocks, that appear on the moon.

When SpongeBob and Patrick "arrive" at the "moon," they use it to hunt "aliens," who are really the Bikini Bottomites.

Role in video games[]

Legend of the Lost Spatula[]

The net gun reappears in the game as the "net launcher." SpongeBob can use it to throw nets at enemies, which when hit, will be trapped in the net and disappear. The weapon only comes with limited ammo, and extra nets can be found hidden in treasure chests. The net launcher will have unlimited ammo if the code "D3BVG-M0D3" is typed on the password continue screen.

Operation Krabby Patty[]

In the level "Hide & Go Jellyfishin'," the net gun is used by Sandy, SpongeBob, or Patrick to capture the jellyfish throughout Jellyfish Fields. There is a rock behind which they must go to refill the gun once it runs out of projectiles.
