Mystery is a seahorse that SpongeBob adopted and later released in the episode "My Pretty Seahorse."
Description
Mystery is mainly a normal light green seahorse. She is also bigger than any average seahorse, which are nearly Plankton's size. She acts just like a regular horse.
History
For a while, SpongeBob considered naming her Grace, Majesty, or maybe even Debbie, but finally decided upon the name Mystery. Her name matches because if she eats something and walks away, then nobody knows and it's a mystery problem. However, in the Krusty Krab, she eats flowers, Krabby Patties, Old Man Jenkins, SpongeBob's spatula, all the Krabby Patties, the stove, SpongeBob's work hat, SpongeBob's floral bookmark, and Mr. Krabs' money.
Mr. Krabs doesn't like Mystery that much, and wants SpongeBob to let Mystery go, although SpongeBob lies about Mystery having a stomachache. He is afraid for Mystery to go, but Mr. Krabs tells him a story about when he spent his first dollar to convince him that it's for his own good, and finally agreed with him.
Mystery is then let go by SpongeBob, who said his last words to her, and he begins crying while Mr. Krabs tells him that he did the right thing. Soon, Squidward notices that she ate the bank, and SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs start chasing her.
Trivia

- Seahorses similar in appearance to Mystery are seen in the episodes "Whale of a Birthday" and "Breath of Fresh Squidward."
- She appears to have the ability to cause nuclear explosions, as when Squidward lands on the ground after she runs through him, it causes a nuclear explosion. The same thing happens when she kicks Scooter.
- SpongeBob regretted not naming Mystery "Debbie."
- Mystery appears on the water ride "Splash Bash" at Nickelodeon Land in Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
