Lo, There Shall Be A Catered Affair! is the first comic of SpongeBob Comics Annual Super-Giant Swimtacular No. 1.

Characters[]

Synopsis[]

At the Krusty Krab, Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob that the superhero team the Aquatic Adventurers are holding their 75th reunion at the restaurant. The news excites SpongeBob, due to them being his favorite superhero team, and it gives him an opportunity to make them sign his copy of the team's first issue of their comic book. Mr. Krabs threatens to fire SpongeBob if he gets autographs, while secretly planning on getting the autographs himself so he can sell the comic book for profit.

That night, the elderly Aquatic Adventurers arrive at the Krusty Krab, and Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob to act normally around them. While he jitters a bit in excitement, he controls his fan urges, and Mr. Krabs orders him to get more Krabby Patties for the heroes. While SpongeBob gets more food, Mr. Krabs brings the Flying Fish into his office to sign his comic book.

When SpongeBob gets back, he notices that the Flying Fish is missing, which gets the other heroes' attention. SpongeBob compares this to the story in the first issue comic book where the Invisible Isopod, an invisible villain, abducts the heroes one by one. The Flying Fish travels back to the group, and Mr. Krabs bring Barnacle Boy into his office to sign his comic book.

The group notice that Barnacle Boy is gone, and SpongeBob compares this to the story, where the Invisible Isopod has kidnapped Barnacle Boy. Barnacle Boy returns to the group, and Lighthouse Lass is brought into Mr. Krabs' office to sign his comic book. The group notice that Lighthouse Lass has vanished and start to panic, but SpongeBob reminds them they have powers. As the heroes show off their powers, Lighthouse Lass returns and the Green Harpoon goes to sign Mr. Krabs' comic book.

Everyone notices that the Green Harpoon has disappeared, and they fully believe that the Invisible Isopod is attacking them. A mailman suddenly arrives, causing SpongeBob to panic and chase him away. SpongeBob then points out how vulnerable the heroes are in the open, and suggests that they go to an enclosed space to prevent any sneak attacks. They decide to hide in the bathroom, and SpongeBob pushes all the heroes inside (including the Green Harpoon, who has come back from signing Mr. Krabs' comic book) before following them inside.

Mr. Krabs, now needing only Mermaid Man's signature to complete his collection, goes to find him but sees that the restaurant is empty. He hears sounds coming from the bathroom and opens the door. Thinking he is the Invisible Isopod, SpongeBob orders the Aquatic Adventurers to attack, causing a large explosion inside the Krusty Krab.

After the attack, they realize that Mr. Krabs was the one who opened the door, and SpongeBob notices Mr. Krabs' signature-covered comic book. He then thinks that Mr. Krabs was getting signatures for him as a surprise and takes the comic book in happiness as Mr. Krabs groans in pain. The Aquatic Adventurers bemoan over the Invisible Isopod not attacking, due to the thrill the event caused, but Barnacle Boy comments that he knew the Invisible Isopod was never in the restaurant. Suddenly, Barnacle Boy gets wedgied by the Invisible Isopod, who gloats as everyone watches in shock.
