A Krabby Patty is a burger-like fast food item sold at the Krusty Krab resturant which its recipe is kept top secret in the Bikini Bottom.

History
The Krabby Patty was first invented by King Krabs who lived sometime before the 12th century. They were first used to soothe the "jellyfish dragon" of the evil sorceror "Planktonimor" an ancestor of Sheldon J. Plankton. Thus the Krabby Patty became an "old Krab's Family recipe." Eugene H. Krab's mother also knew the secret formula to the Krabby Patty, even though she married into the Krabs family and probably was not a direct descendant of King Krabs.
Mr. Krabs made Krabby Patties since he was a young child with his best friend Sheldon J. Plankton, since the only place to get a burger at the time was at Stinky Burger - owned by a wealthy citizen named Stinky. Eugene and Sheldon wanted to go get a burger there, but Stinky did not like them hanging around his restaurant. Stinky's wealth inspired both Krabs and Plankton to make their own fast food restaurant, so they created their own restaurant in a dump which attracted no buyers. Old Man Jenkins, who was at the dump at that time, throwing away his unwanted scraps, became the first one to try the burger. But it was contaminated and knocked him out. The outcome of the Jenkins incident caused Krabs and Plankton to argue about the burger; when later Plankton tried stealing the formula, it ripped in half - so Plankton got his own batch of burgers and went to start his own business. A few hours later, Eugene Krabs' shelf fell and combined many ingredients into his cooking pot - creating the perfect patty batter. Eugene Krabs' accidental recipe became a huge success. By combining the burger with the family's secret sauce, he brought his family out of poverty and into riches. Soon Mr. Krabs decided to create a larger establishment, and renovated the failing retirement home, the Rusty Krab. He renamed it to the Krusty Krab. The Krusty Krab become one of the most successful restaurants in Bikini Bottom.
The Krabby Patty had been continually pursued by Mr. Krab's rival Sheldon Plankton. One time, after continually failing to defeat Krabs, Plankton used his last plan - Plan Z, and sold many Krabby Patties to control the Krusty Krabs customers. Soon Plankton's plans were foiled by SpongeBob Squarepants and Patrick Star. Plankton was sentenced to imprisonment. Mr. Krabs is improving his business every day.

Preparation
To make the Krabby Patty you must first, cook the patties at 298 degrees. Secondly, you must flip the patties over with a good spatula. Finally the Patty must be placed on a bun which is not pre-sliced with the rest of the ingredients.
Throughout the series, the the Krabby Patty is prepared with love, which is another secret to it's popularity. Use of magic and machines hides the passion and hard work that the Krusty Krab is supportive on.
Recipe
One of the most well-known attributes of the Krabby Patty, is it's secret formula. Although the actual formula has never been revealed, there have been hints as to what it is.
Ingredients
The known ingredients include:
- 2 Seaweed Seed Buns
- Patty
- Sea Lettuce
- Sea Cheese
- Onions
- Tomatoes
- Mustard, Ketchup, and Mayonnaise
- Pickles
- Secret sauce
The composition of the Patty and the Secret Sauce are secret. The recipe for the actual Patty was accidentally invented by Mr. Krabs when he was a child. The secret sauce recipe has been passed down through generations of the Krabs family, starting with King Krabs. In "Krabby Road" part of one the the recipes were revealed in a song, and a part of the actual secret formula paper. On the paper, words in gibberish are included in parentheses.

Real Secret Formula
Nick.com announced the secret formula on their website, even though it wasn't announced on the show.
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp. finely chopped onion
- 2 tbsp. finely chopped celery
- 4-6 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 tsp. thyme
- 1 lb. frozen imitation crabmeat, (defrosted and finely chopped in a food processor)
- 3/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
- 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp. mayonnaise (plus 1 cup for dipping sauce)
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 3 tbsp. ketchup (for dipping sauce)
Start Cooking:
- Step 1 - Sauté the onions and celery in 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the thyme, lower the heat, and cook until the onions are translucent.
- Step 2 - In a large bowl combine the crabmeat, sautéed onions and celery, bread crumbs, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, egg, salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine.
- Step 3 - Shape into rounds by using a small ice cream scoop, then gently pat flat.
- Step 4 - Heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet. Working in batches (2 to 3 crab cakes at a time) place the crab cakes in a skillet and cook until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side. You may need to add more oil for the second and third batches.
- Step 5 - Preheat the oven to 400°F. Transfer the crab cakes to the baking pan and bake for 10 minutes. The crab cakes can be kept in a warm oven for approximately 30 minutes, or they may be reheated at serving time. Serve with a kid-friendly dipping sauce. Mix 1 cup of mayonnaise with 3 tablespoons of ketchup.

Fake Krabby Patty Recipe
This was the recipe seen in the episode "Plankton's Army". It turns out this was the recipe kept in the safe at the Krusty Krab. The real recipe is hidden at Mr. Krabs' house, under his mattress. The recipe is:
- A pinch of Salt
- 3 teespoons chopped onions
- A cup of love
- 4 pounds of freshly ground plankton
Nasty Patty
The Nasty Patty was invented by SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs in order to get "revenge" on a health inspector they thought was a fake inspector. The Nasty Patty is a disgusting and "much worse" version of the original and tasty Krabby Patty. The ingredients are:
- One Krabby Patty
- Volcano Sauce
- Seahorse Radish
- Mr. Krabs Toenail Clippings
- Toilet Water
- Gym Socks
The Side Effects
The Krabby Patty also has a dangerous and unfortunate side effect. When way too many Krabby Patties are eaten at one time, all the fat, starch and other undersea ingredients would go to the consumer's thighs and this causes them to soon explode. This happened to Squidward Tentacles in Just One Bite when he broke into the Patty Vault and ate too many Krabby Patties at once. Fortunately Squidward was only reduced to a living head and survived the explosion. However, if one does not have a Krabby Patty after an extensive period, he/she will suffer from Krabby Patty Withdrawal. If one does not eat a Krabby Patty during the withdrawal, he/she will whine about it for a few minutes.
