Cookies are a food item that first appear in the episode "Tea at the Treedome." They are a notable favorite of SpongeBob SquarePants, served by his grandmother.
Description[]
Cookies have come in wide varieties and had different appearances over the years, but they are primarily light brown circular cookies with chocolate chips baked into them. A common drink to dip them in is milk.
They have been produced by various people, such as Grandma SquarePants, Sandy Cheeks, Grandma, Mrs. Tentacles, and Incidental 173.
Role in series[]
"Tea at the Treedome"[]
Sandy invites SpongeBob over for tea and cookies at her treedome, although none are seen until the end where she is holding a tray of them.
"Grandma's Kisses"[]
They are first seen when SpongeBob goes to his grandma's house to receive gifts and it is revealed that he loves her cookies. He also dips them in milk sometimes and licks the cookie dough off the spoon.
Later in the episode, when SpongeBob chooses to act like an adult, Patrick decides to take SpongeBob's place as the child his grandma feeds these cookies to, and he loves them as much as his best friend does. SpongeBob becomes jealous and wants affection from his grandmother again and for her to feed him cookies, which she does after telling him he does not have to act like an adult to mask his insecurities.
"Christmas Who?"[]
Patchy is seen eating unbaked cookie dough.
"Can You Spare a Dime?"[]
Incidental 49 offers SpongeBob a plate of cookies and he takes one. Squidward wants one too but Norma leaves before he can grab one.
"Fear of a Krabby Patty"[]
In SpongeBob's dream, Patty serves him a cookie pizza and a glass of chocolate milk.
"Have You Seen This Snail?"[]
Grandma serves a tray of heart-shaped cookies for Gary to eat. Later, SpongeBob serves Patrick some kelp cookies and seahorse milk, although only the latter is shown. Grandma serves cookies again when Gary discovers he's being fattened up from her food until he eventually dies like the rest of her snails.
"Krusty Towers"[]
During a series of fulfilling his many requests, Mr. Krabs is forced by Squidward to give him a plate of cookies, which he does, but Squidward criticizes them for tasting nothing like his mother made them. This prompts Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob to go to Mrs. Tentacles' house and try to get her to make her homemade cookies.
They are successful in doing so and deliver them to Squidward, who actually appreciates them this time for being just like how his mother used to make them.
"BlackJack"[]
SpongeBob runs into his grandma's house to warn her that BlackJack is out of prison. He does not find her at first, but sees a plate of gingerbread cookies she left on the table, and thinks that BlackJack made her into the cookies. However, his grandma appears and offers the cookies to him. SpongeBob runs off again to seek help elsewhere.
"Pineapple Invasion"[]
Plankton, disguised as a Sweetie Patrol girl, attempts to sell Sweetie Patrol Cookies to Gary in an attempt to obtain the Krabby Patty secret formula. He wants to hide them in a "secret spot" but Gary does not fall for it and moves the couch with Plankton on it outside.
Plankton is upset that his plan failed and throws the cookies on the ground, causing an explosion. It is at that moment revealed that Plankton used nitroglycerin as a substitute for vanilla extract.
"Call the Cops"[]
Helen the Felon is arrested for selling cookies without a license.
"My Two Krabses"[]
SpongeBob teaches Chum Krabs the final test of trying to act like Mr. Krabs by giving him money and cookies, which Chum Krabs picks that he likes money more than cookies.
Trivia[]
- Fortune cookies, a Chinese variant of regular cookies with a fortune inside, are a major plot point of the episode "Lame and Fortune."
- SpongeBob assuming BlackJack cooked her into the cookies references the resemblance between his grandmother and a cookie.
