Old Man Jenkins is an elderly fish who appears in many episodes, often as a side gag.

He has been voiced by Tom Kenny, Doug Lawrence, and regularly by Dee Bradley Baker. In the episodes "Friend or Foe," "The Main Drain," and "Séance Shméance," he is taller, has a beard, and is a dark green color. He also doesn't wear glasses in those episodes.

Old Man Jenkins' personality depends on which version he is. However, most of the time, he is a quiet, yet adventurous and ambitious elder fish.

Old Man Jenkins dislikes flying machines.[1]

Role in series

His name is a character name used in various episodes as a running gag. His name is first mentioned in "Sailor Mouth." The name was originally applied to the elderly green fish, who appears commonly throughout the series, but in other episodes, the name "Old Man Jenkins" has been used for completely different characters, such as a green fish in a wheel chair and a blue fish in overalls. They are always elderly fish.

  • The reason for so many different versions of Old Man Jenkins has never been explained. However, there could just be different elderly fish with the name Old Man Jenkins, because Jenkins is a common name.
    • One of these Jenkins possibly died in "Friend or Foe" due to K.O. food poisoning.
    • This character's name is commonly used for gags in the show. This may also explain why there are different versions of Old Man Jenkins.
    • It is suggested that there may be more than one Old Man Jenkins as there are more than one King Neptune.
  • There is also an Old Man Jenkins in the console version of Creature From the Krusty Krab. He seems to resemble Cannonball Jenkins the most.
  • He has a barn in "The Sponge Who Could Fly."
  • In "Snail Mail," he almost choked to death on a Krabby Patty. Also, SpongeBob mistakes Old Man Jenkins for his penpal in this appearance.
  • In the Croatian dub, he has various names. In "The Sponge Who Could Fly," his name is "Jurica." In "Friend or Foe" his name is "Johnny" (or Džoni), and in "The Main Drain" his name is "Jure."
  • His voice is similar to Mr. Forgetful's from the UPN show The Mr. Men Show.
