In November and December of 2013, an issue was brought up regarding the copying of SpongeBob Mania transcripts to the wikia. A discussion begun by AW10 is here.

Background

To be written.

AW10's Template Proposal

I would like to propose a rule for transcripts copied from some other site:

At the end of every transcript article that is copied from external site should be author's name and link to the source of the transcript article. Every user that is proven to be copying transcripts from an external site without crediting the author will be sanctioned.

Way of crediting the author is optional, but I suggest we make some template official for it. Here is the template I propose. It is currently used on "SpongeBob You're Fired (transcript)". Also, I suggest that no one touches anything until consensus is reached.

Support

  • Support Support - as long as this is okay with the original author(s). — AMK152 13:44, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

Oppose

  •  It's not okay with the original authors. There shouldn't even be a discussion here. --abney317
  • I only support giving credit if the authors accept. If the author does not accept, then it should be reverted (not cleared; I saw that you completed cleared the entire article, without reverting it back to the wiki users version, before it was copied). Also I want to note that when this wiki started, we did not copy content from SBM; I migrated content over from Wikipedia before most of it was downsized. If anything is copied over, and the author does not allow such action to happen, then the content should be reverted and someone should be notified. Thus, in conclusion, since there is no permission granted to the original authors, then the articles should be reverted back to the "pre-copied" version, effective immediately. Reverted, not erased. — AMK152 01:19, December 4, 2013 (UTC)
