Open Proposal

The following is an ongoing proposal. Please feel free to voice your opinion, but be sure to follow the rules.

How proposals work
    Concerns stage
  1. Someone brings up a topic for a proposal.
  2. The community discusses that topic.
  3. Voting stage
  4. The proposal is brought to a vote, taking into account any changes discussed by the community.
  5. The community votes.

You can use any of the following prior to your comments to show your opinion.

{{Support}} • {{Neutral}} • {{Oppose}} • {{Change}} • {{Comment}} • {{Reply}} • {{Question}}
Neutral votes do not count in determining the outcome percentage.

Introduction

This discussion involves non-fictional locations. I don't think it is necessary to have an article on ALL these real-life things. There are some exceptions, of course, but we should be more organized. We can mention these things, but just because Nevada was seen in a map in one episode, doesn't mean it should have it's own article. Some things have very little information that is relevant to the series, that they can just be merged into another page.

Proposal

The proposal is to merge (and redirect, not delete) the following articles to the respective article:

This proposal involves deleting the following categories:

  • Category:Continents
  • Category:States

This proposal acknowledges that we keep the following articles, which are relevant to the series and have more information than most other non-fictional locations. Of course, there are other articles that we keep, I am just acknowledging that we are not getting rid of everything.

This discussion will end on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 9:25 a.m., eastern time. — AMK152 (Wall • Contrib) 13:26, April 29, 2015 (UTC)

Oppose

  • Template:Extremely Strong Oppose - That vote is not enough to say how much I am opposed to this discussion. This is part of AMK's "Operation: List" to make every "short page" into a list, which is not okay. There is nothing wrong with those pages or categories, but he certainly thinks that every page that he thinks is a stub should be put in a list or merged with other pages. List are not the solution for everything!!! I cannot keep doing this. I cannot keep pretending that I am okay with every decision that this wiki makes or that people aren't just supporting this because AMK is. If that is not true, prove it by giving your reason why you support this. If this passes, I will leave because it is clear that no one wants or values my opinion on this wiki. (It is not just this. There are other situations)  120d  Talk  Contribs  120d 20:52, April 29, 2015 (UTC)
  • Let me clarify:
  • 1. There isn't any Operation:List. It's more like Project Cleanup. I am working to clean things up. increase quality, and improve the content of the wiki.
  • 2. I don't believe that every stub should be merged or redirected to a list.
  • 3. You are right, lists are not the solution for everything.
  • 4. The community always decides which direction they want to go.
  • 5. I have disagreed with certain things at this wiki, so your argument that everyone is agreeing with me is invalid. You should notice that you are often the single opposition. It's not that many people agree with me, it's that a majority people disagree with you at times.
  • 6. If you leave because the community favors something you do not, it is because you are not getting what you want. It's not about you. It's about the community and how they feel the knowledge of SpongeBob SquarePants should be presented.
