Introduction
There has been a number of issues with chat moderators, some who have been promoted very quickly, and then later removed as chat moderators. It has been great that we have gone this far without a chat moderator request process, but is it time? Or should we just impose minimum requirements? There are a few options I have listed below.
Proposal
Here are the options:
- Option A - keep the chat moderator appointment process as it is now, allowing administrators to appoint chat moderators as they see fit.
- Option B - impose minimum requirements for chat moderators (we would need a follow up discussion), but still allow administrators to appoint chat moderators if they meet those requirements.
- Option C - impose minimum requirements for chat moderators and require everyone who wishes to be a chat moderator to go through an application process, just like administrators.
No matter what happens, all current chat moderators will remain chat moderators, as long as they follow the rules.

Discussion
Option A
- Keep the chat moderator appointment process as it is now, allowing administrators to appoint chat moderators as they see fit.
Support - I support C, mixed with A. Keep the requirements as they are, but let Chat Moderator requests be a thing. Adventuretimesbiggestfan2000 (talk) 03:36, July 4, 2014 (UTC)
Strong Support - i Pick A Cause Adding Requirements isn't going to help anything Tominator777 (talk) 03:39, July 4, 2014 (UTC)
Neutral - - Yeah, I wouldn't mind this although the process still isn't particularly smooth. --Spongebob456 talk 06:14, July 4, 2014 (UTC)
Neutral - Meh. This one isn't bad but I think it's fair that some requirements are set. ZeoSpark Talk Contribs Edits 14:27,7/4/2014
Neutral - I think some requirements should apply. Tan Ham Man 16:55,7/6/2014
Option B
- Impose minimum requirements for chat moderators (we would need a follow up discussion), but still allow administrators to appoint chat moderators if they meet those requirements.
Strong Support - I stronly support Option B. Pretzel 📪 🔎
Support - B, maybe C. 03:35,7/4/2014 Muchacha (W•C)OVERTIME?!!!

Strong Support - - Yes, completely agree with this one. A formal application process is a bit excessive, but I do feel we need a way of defining who would make a great chat mod. --Spongebob456 talk 06:14, July 4, 2014 (UTC)
Support - Not too bad. ZeoSpark Talk Contribs Edits 14:27,7/4/2014
Support - Yes, this is good. Tan Ham Man 16:55,7/6/2014
Option C
- Impose minimum requirements for chat moderators and require everyone who wishes to be a chat moderator to go through an application process, just like administrators.
Support - I support C, mixed with A. Keep the requirements as they are, but let Chat Moderator requests be a thing. Adventuretimesbiggestfan2000 (talk) 03:36, July 4, 2014 (UTC)

Neutral leaning Support - I am not opposed. 03:39,7/4/2014 Muchacha (W•C)OVERTIME?!!!
Support - - per my above comment. If this makes the selection process more valid, then I'm all for it! :) --Spongebob456 talk 06:14, July 4, 2014 (UTC)

Strong Support - Yes, I like it. Tan Ham Man 16:55,7/6/2014
Weak Oppose - I mean, this would be quite a hassle just for a Chat Mod. appointment. But, I am not vehemently against this. Pretzel 📪 🔎
Support - this might help too Tominator777 (talk) 20:04, July 6, 2014 (UTC)
Support - Yes, this sounds good having people apply to be a chat mod sounds much better then having users just begging the admins to make them a chat mod. Road Runner1 (talk) 06:23, July 7, 2014 (UTC)

Okay, this may sounds crazy, but how about this: We demote all Chat Mods, and then reappoint those who we deam fit. This will help us clean up some of the drama mess, and then we can have a straighter path to move foward. I still support option B, but I think that we need to have a freash start with the chat mods. - That is an idea. That would mess up the user rights log a bit, but it is worth a try. It is worth pointing out that AMK said no one is getting demoted unless they break any rules. :) --Spongebob456 talk 06:14, July 4, 2014 (UTC)
- I agree with this. ZeoSpark Talk Contribs Edits 14:27,7/4/2014
- No, that sounds like an awful idea, the mods who don't use their powers should be demoted, so we can have a "straighter" path. Road Runner1 (talk) 06:19, July 7, 2014 (UTC)
