I think that we need a page for everything that has been on the show. While, most references should not, things that have been quoted by exact words should be. Lists should exist, but there should be pages for things on that list because length of articles DOES NOT MATTER!! It is stupid to think that it does. I am not okay with deleting pages because they are not 1000 bytes, an arbitrary amount. If there it is a small page, that does not matter. Not every page needs to be as long as [[SpongeBob SquarePants (character)]]. {{User:120d/SigReal|120d 13:24, April 26, 2015 (UTC)}}

Every part of SpongeBob SquarePants universe can potentially have an article and I prefer that every part of it has an article. However, if a non-stub article cannot be written for some part of SpongeBob SquarePants universe, it can be included in a list, but I still don't prefer it. {{User:AW10/SigReal|21:26,4/26/2015}}

Introduction

When this wiki began, the first pages were the most important: episodes, lists, and major locations. Since then, we have expanded to include all kinds of different articles. However, where do we draw the line? How do we define if something is "relevant" or not? What deserves its own page and what doesn't?

Copy and paste the following in the discussions section and replace "USER" with your username.

This discussion will be ongoing until we have collected as many user's opinions as possible. — AMK152 (Wall • Contrib) 00:04, April 18, 2015 (UTC)

I'd say any main article of an episode, book, game, etc. should be the article containing all info and whatnot about it. A page about something little, like a quote, should be included in the main article. ~Prez 00:18, April 18, 2015 (UTC)

If a character, object, or location is important enough to the SpongeBob SquarePants universe that sufficient information can be found from the show to create a non-stub article, then it deserves its own page. Otherwise, it should be merged with a similar article or shouldn't exist at all. Exceptions to this rule include people, places, or things that don't exist in the SpongeBob SquarePants universe but have enough information in relation to the series that a non-stub article can be formed from that information alone. That means pages like Tom Kenny or Texas can stay, but pages like Andy Samberg or the United Kingdom cannot. ~JCM 00:44, April 18, 2015 (UTC)

I agree on the count that this is a wiki and we should have as much information on pages as we can but that does not mean we need pages on everything. Like, unless it has made an appearance within the series or is a part of the cast that has voiced someone or physically appeared themselves (such as Johnny Depp voicing Jack Kahuna Laguna for that one episode or P!nk singing We've Got Scurvy for that special episode). However, if something outside of the series is only just referenced or doesn't have anything to do with the series weither it's one of the cast or something that occurs within the series, then the article isn't revelant and doesn't deserve it's own page. If a user can legitimately say that an article has provided info for their questions or interests, it can be relevant. If an article has good info, quality, and structure, then it's pretty relevant. What's not relevant is articles that aren't in too huge of a use. Dragonballgtgoku «Talk Page/Contribs» 01:27, April 18, 2015 (UTC)

Of course we create articles on the obvious:

  • All episodes
  • All shorts
  • All movies
  • All games
  • All books that are merchandise
  • All main and major characters and characters with a lot of information
  • All video releases
  • Common objects with a lot of information (like Krabby Patty)

Then there are some things that there is not a clear answer:

  • Some very minor characters/characters with little information
  • Certain objects, especially those with little information
  • Perhaps certain products

Then there are those that definately should not have articles:

  • Irrelvant stuff to the series
  • Stuff that would be better off in lists

Of course, it is a matter of a case-by-case basis. I would suggest we create a master list of what things there should be an article for EVERY one of that certain entity, as well as a list of articles that we should not have, or stuff that should be merged to lists. Then, for those in which we are not certain, we can have a discussion case-by-case. — AMK152 (Wall • Contrib) 13:18, April 20, 2015 (UTC)

My thoughts on Article relevancy. Well, i do think it's quality over quanity, since, if we bloat this wiki full of very minor things, for article, it'll have much more stubs than quality articles (and the wiki is trying to elementate having a lot of stubs), my suggestion, is to see how much a character/object serves/does, which, if it doesn't do enough/have enough apperinces/have that big of a role, or vice versa, then, having an article of it would lead to it being a stub that cannot be expanded any further, which wouldn't be good, since this wiki wants to avoid having tons of stubs. I think that most general things that appear in the show should be allowed to stay. If it was just a small mention in one episode 10 years ago, then there is no relevance, and a whole article has no need to be made. If it is a major event in one episode 10 years ago, then I think an article could, and should be made. Tan Ham ManSpongebob dancing gif 14:21,4/21/2015
