The administration of Encyclopedia SpongeBobia are users on this wiki who have administrative powers. Currently, there are 10 administrators, of which 4 are bureaucrats. This list also includes non-administrative roles (assistants, moderators, chat moderators, and rollback).

General information

Different users have access to different functions of the site. While anyone can do most things on the site, including reading and editing, administrators can access a few additional functions. See the administrators' how-to guide for a guide on using admin functions. Some functions include: deleting and undeleting pages, page histories, and uploaded files, locking (protecting) a page so it can not be edited or renamed by users without admin rights, blocking IP addresses or user names from editing; and very quick "rollback" of undesirable edits, and editing the interface by changing system messages and skins, among others.

A bureaucrat can make other users into bureaucrats or administrators on their own wiki, but they cannot demote other bureaucrats.

Some Fandom staff members have full access to all of Fandom. They will be shown in Special:Listusers/staff on any wiki. Please see the Community Central contact page for details on how to contact Fandom staff.

Active user Any user to whom one or more of the following apply. Has made at least one hundred (100) edits within one (1) month preceding the present date. Is actively involved in any of the ESB official discussions, discussions, or Discord, meaning participating in conversations on a regular basis.

Semi-active user Any user to whom one or more of the following apply. Has made at least fifty (50) edits within two (2) months preceding the present date, but fewer than one hundred (100) edits within one (1) month preceding the present date. Is occasionally involved in any of the ESB official discussions, discussions, or Discord, meaning participating in conversations on a less than regular basis.

Inactive user Any user to whom both of the following apply. Has made fewer than fifty (50) edits within two (2) months preceding the present date. Is rarely involved in any of the ESB official discussions, discussions, or Discord, meaning participating in conversations every once in a while.

How to be promoted

Due to the size of the community, sysop rights are requested and voted on here. The chance of one's being granted adminship is based off how the editor acts on the wiki (specifically, but not limited to, their editing habits), how the editor acts on other wikis, and whether they are an admin on other wikis or not.

The following is a list of how one may be promoted at ESB:

• Bureaucrat - there are a number of requirements to become a bureaucrat. Those can be found here.
• Administrator - there are quite a bit of requirements to become an administrator. See here for further information.
• Assistant - any user with over 200 total edits and 100 main namespace edits can request to be an assistant. Requests for assistant are here.
• Moderator - a user that has been a chat moderator for at least two months and has over 100 edits can request for moderator here.
• Rollback - there are no requirements to becoming a rollback. Anyone can be promoted to rollback at the discretion of an administrator.
• Chat moderator - a consensus of 70% or more support must be reached by the community in a discussion here.
