I'm doing this first review of an episode and it will be about Don't Look Now. I have to say, this episode isn't all bad but Squidward continues to act like the main antagonist of Season 9. I mean, in Squid Defense, he used his karate skills for revenge despite how many times Sandy told him not to use karate for that purpose.
Let's start off with the beginning episode. SpongeBob and Patrick are eager to see a scary movie and Squidward doesn't believe they will make it to it. Well, that's classic Squidward for ya. Always seem to be in a bad mood.
"Squidward, you're looking at two grown-up big boys"
Hah! That was a pretty funny line by SpongeBob as he actually used a double analogy. What to know what analogy is? Hey! You're online! Google is your friend. So SpongeBob and Patrick head into the theathre as is eager to watch the movie (surprising to see an anglerfish).
"Take your seats!"
Wow....I wonder who voiced that anglerfish? That voice was actually pretty meancing (and his appearance). The movie starts and SpongeBob and Patrick and are scared half to death by the movie. Funny, SpongeBob and Patrick played on fishing hooks in the past so seeing them afraid of them now is pretty funny (I guess Patrick learned his lesson after becoming some mayo). The scene gets into a running gag where SpongeBob and Patrick fail to watch the full movie only seeing the "THE END" sign. It was also pretty funny that Patrick got stuck in SpongeBob's eyelids and annoyed the other watchers. SpongeBob and Patrick end up staying till midnight and are scared as they think the fisherman is coming to get them.
"I guess we showed that old horror movie who's best!"
Patrick's dumbness is laughable as he and SpongeBob barely watched the movie at all. SpongeBob is about have a nice sleep at his house but Patrick is afraid to walk "all the way" to his house. SpongeBob walks him there but is too afraid to walk "all the way" back to his house. An annoyed Squidward then has to take both of them to their respective homes before trying to get some sleep himself. Simple solution to all of this: Patrick should've just stay the night at SpongeBob's house! DUH!
"They want a fisherman eh? I'll give 'em a fisherman and how!"
Here comes Mr. Grumpy once again being antagonistic. Squidward decides to scare SpongeBob and Patrick by posing as The Fisherman. Squidward's costumes parody Halloween's most infamous monsters (except the bunny lol) and puts on a costume (which actually looks like his Flying Dutchman costume back from the episode Scaredy Pants). Squidward hooks Patrick first but pays the price as Patrick runs around scared and Squidward finds himself part of SpongeBob's front door. Patrick's ripped face kinda freaked me out a bit but it's nothing like the other horrific things that happens throughout the series *coughSquidwardsToenailScenecough*. Squidward continues to tormet SpongeBob and Patrick until they start to say their goodbyes.
"I don't want to die in my underwear!"
I don't think nobody does Patrick lol. Pretty awkward that SpongeBob offered up his own underpants and Patrick did the same. Like this episode needs anymore disturbing stuff! Squidward finally reveals himself and the faces that SpongeBob and Patrick made were just priceless. What's even funnier, SpongeBob and Patrick think the fisherman is eating Squidward and decide to get offensive.
"You're going down fisherman!"
Yes! Patrick acting brave! Even more yes: Squidward is receving some payback! Squidward should know by now the IQ levels of SpongeBob and Patrick as they will attack him thinking he is being eaten by some fake monster. Patrick then ends up dropping a bunch of heavy objects onto Squidward and that's enough to put him in the hospital.
"I guess we don't have to worry about that old monster anymore..."
BOO! The fisherman is real! Run everyone! SpongeBob and Patrick escape into the abumalnce with Squidward and the fisherman is revealed to be Gary. I guess that's Gary's way of getting back at SpongeBob for using him as a blockage eariler but, eh, kinda a stale ending there.
Overall, Don't Look Now was a pretty good episode. I think the episode was better in the beginning where SpongeBob and Patrick was "watching" the movie. I didn't approve of Squidward's bullying but at least he got some payback at the end. Season 9 started off rocky and so far, the only episode from this season I really like is Eek, An Urchin! but Don't Look Now just made my list as well.
Rating: 8.5/10
Best Moments: SpongeBob and Patrick making scared faces; Squidward getting injured.
Worst Moments: Squidward's cold bullying; awkward ending.
