海綿寶寶 (in Yale: Hóimìhn Bóubóu) is the Cantonese dub of SpongeBob SquarePants. It is part of International SpongeBob SquarePants.

Channel history[]

ATV Home[]

The first Cantonese iteration of the series premiered on ATV Home on May 7, 2010.

Its first run spanned from then to November 1, 2010 on weekdays, airing the first 3 seasons.

Its second run spanned from January 4, 2012 to July 26, 2012, airing a mix of premieres of episodes from season 4-6 and reruns of episodes from season 1-3.

Its third and final run spanned from December 7, 2012 to April 14, 2013.

The original English version aired on its sister channel ATV World occasionally from June 1, 2001 to December 31, 2012.

ViuTV[]

The second iteration premiered on ViuTV on December 25, 2017 with the episode "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!". It then began its proper run on January 22, 2018, airing seasons 9 and 10 until April 16, 2018.

The original English version (although usually with Cantonese subtitles available) began airing on its sister channel ViuTVsix on December 20, 2018 and still airs.

Netflix[]

The third iteration released on Netflix in September 2020 and was available until September 30, 2022. It became available again on the service exactly one year later on September 30, 2023.

Currently, some episodes of season 6 and all of season 7 are available on the service with an original dub. Earlier seasons have been available on the service with the ATV Home dub, and later seasons have yet to become available in Cantonese.
